Top 5 Auctions This Week in Australia: Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2 Leads this week

30 September 2026 edition · AutoMarkets

A winged, five-cylinder Audi rally recreation leads our top five car auction picks in Australia this week. Built by Jamie Small, the Sport Quattro S1 E2 recreation brings Group B-inspired engineering to a line-up that also includes an Australian-delivered Ferrari 575M Maranello F1, a genuine LC GTR Torana, a manual VL Berlina Turbo and a Cream Yellow Volvo 850 T-5R Estate.

Four have advertised auction closing dates between 2 and 7 October. The Torana remains part of our selection as a post-auction opportunity: SEVEN82MOTORS now lists it as “Available now” following its 27 September event. Here is what makes each car worth a closer look, together with the specification details that matter when comparing prices.

Details checked on 30 September 2026. Odometer readings are advertised indications, not verified distances travelled. Follow each listing for current status, local closing times and extensions. The VL is advertised as a 1987 car; its seller description records a 1986 build and August 1986 compliance.

1. Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2 recreation: Group B character takes the lead

1987 Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2 recreation by Jamie Small at auction in Queensland

For anyone searching for an Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2 recreation for sale in Australia, this is the headline car. The appeal is immediate: oversized aerodynamic bodywork, rally lighting and yellow-and-white livery make it the most theatrical entry in this week's selection.

The seller's description identifies a UK-built Jamie Small recreation using an Audi 80 front section and an Audi Coupe rear section, with the identity of a Coupe first registered in April 1987. It reached Australia in 2020. This is a recreation, with no claim here to original works-team competition provenance.

Audi Quattro recreation engine and specification

A forged 2.2-litre RS2 ADU inline-five drives all four wheels through an 01E six-speed manual with a sequential shifter. The seller reports approximately 500 bhp on low boost. KW coilovers, a dry-sump system, motorsport brakes and Sparco seats support the focused build. That power figure is a seller claim, while the transmission description should not be confused with proof of a purpose-built sequential racing gearbox.

What will determine this Audi's auction value?

Our view is that build quality, supporting invoices and mechanical condition will matter more than the prices achieved by original Group B competition cars. Those cars carry a different kind of provenance. A recreation needs to be assessed on the work in front of the buyer: how it was built, how it has been maintained and whether it suits the intended use.

The disclosed non-working odometer makes service documentation especially useful. Prospective buyers should also establish the car's registration or event eligibility for their intended use. A completed result could become a reference for this particular build, but it would not establish an Australian price for every Sport Quattro replica.

2. 2004 Ferrari 575M Maranello F1: Australian-delivered V12 grand touring

The Ferrari 575M Maranello for sale in Brisbane offers a very different experience: a front-mounted, naturally aspirated V12, a long bonnet and a black leather cabin. This right-hand-drive example pairs Nero paint with the six-speed F1 electrohydraulic automated manual and shows 70,094 km.

RR Auctions describes it as Australian-delivered and held by its current owner for approximately seven years. The 5,748 cc V12 is quoted at 379 kW and 588 Nm. Original handbooks and tools accompany the car, with the latest supplied service entry dated 20 October 2025 at 69,918 km. Read the Ferrari's full specification and service description.

Ferrari 575M prices in Australia: compare the correct gearbox

The AutoMarkets Ferrari 575M Maranello market currently has no recorded completed sales in the reviewed group. It includes this auction and a 2002 example recorded as not sold in December 2025. That leaves no supported sold-price average to quote for this selection.

For this car, the useful comparison is another 575M F1 with similar delivery history, mileage and maintenance. A gated-manual 575M or an open-top Superamerica introduces major specification differences. We would pay particular attention to documented belt servicing and the condition of the F1 system and clutch when assessing the total ownership proposition.

3. 1970 Holden LC GTR Torana: Sebring Orange with collection history

This 1970 Holden LC GTR Torana brings Australian collector appeal through a compact coupe body, four-speed manual and the seller-described original 2600S six-cylinder engine. SEVEN82MOTORS identifies it as a genuine GTR built in Adelaide in March 1970, finished in its factory Sebring Orange with black vinyl trim.

The auction house traces the car to the D'Alberto family collection, which acquired it in 1986, and says the current owner purchased it at the collection's 2018 auction. An external bare-metal repaint followed in 2019. It now wears 15-inch GTS-style wheels, with the original 13-inch steel wheels included. The listed odometer reads 68,036 miles. Explore the seller's history and photographs.

Holden LC GTR Torana auction results

AutoMarkets records two 1971 LC GTR listings sold on 29 March 2026: one at $69,500 and another at $74,500. These are individual historical results, not a valuation range for this 1970 car. Originality, restoration work and documentation need to be compared car by car.

Status update: the source page now says “Available now” after the 27 September auction. Buyers should enquire about its current availability and terms. We have not treated that label as evidence of a completed sale or a live auction.

4. Holden VL Commodore Berlina Turbo: manual, red and understated

Red Holden VL Commodore Berlina Turbo with five-speed manual in Western Australia

Manual VL Berlina Turbo in Carramar. Photo: Collecting Cars.

The Holden VL Berlina Turbo combines a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six, rear-wheel drive and a five-speed manual. Red paint, grey cloth and turbine-style wheel covers give this example an understated appearance beside the more overt cars in the line-up.

Its advertised 164,207 km is not warranted. The seller lists lowered suspension, a three-inch exhaust and a Pioneer stereo among the changes. Although the headline calls it a 1987 model, the description records a 1986 build and August 1986 Australian compliance. See the VL's specification and disclosures.

VL Turbo market context

The useful question is what buyers will pay for this Berlina's particular combination of identity, gearbox, condition and modifications. Calais Turbo, HDT and heavily modified VL results should not be blended into a price expectation without examining those differences.

Before using another sale as a benchmark, establish the car's original specification and documented mechanical history. This auction should provide a useful observation if it ends in a confirmed sale; the bidding alone will not establish a sold value.

5. 1995 Volvo 850 T-5R Estate: Cream Yellow five-cylinder appeal

Cream Yellow 1995 Volvo 850 T-5R Estate at auction in Collingwood Victoria

The Volvo 850 T-5R Estate for sale in Melbourne rounds out the selection with a distinctive combination of boxy wagon styling and turbocharged five-cylinder power. Cream Yellow paint, black leather and Alcantara trim make this example immediately recognisable.

The advertised specification includes a 2.3-litre B5234T5 turbocharged inline-five, front-wheel drive and a four-speed automatic. Previously registered in Japan and now registered in Australia, it shows an unwarranted 134,982 km. The seller reports its latest service in October 2025 at 132,765 km and discloses a cracked right-hand mirror and a loose internal boot cover. Read the Volvo's auction description.

Volvo T-5R values: body style and specification matter

For a meaningful comparison, start with another T-5R Estate with the same transmission and a documented history. A later 850R, a saloon or a manual-converted car changes the comparison. Japanese registration history should also be assessed alongside import records and maintenance evidence.

Our interest here is how bidders respond to the combination of Cream Yellow, estate bodywork and the automatic drivetrain. We have not established a directly comparable completed T-5R Estate sale for this article, so there is no defensible numerical price prediction to attach to it.

This week's car auctions: frequently asked questions

Is the Audi an original Sport Quattro S1 E2 rally car?

No. It is advertised as a Jamie Small-built recreation using Audi donor body sections. Its identity and value should be assessed as a recreation.

Are all five cars still being auctioned?

Four have advertised closing dates from 2–7 October 2026. The LC GTR Torana is listed by SEVEN82MOTORS as available after its 27 September auction. Check the linked pages for subsequent changes.

Does an auction bid show the car's market value?

A current bid is not a completed sale. Check whether the car sold, whether the reserve was met, and which buyer's fees apply before comparing the result with other transactions.

Follow the auctions and compare the final results

The Audi leads on spectacle, but each of these cars has its own question for the market: the Ferrari's F1 V12 specification, the Torana's provenance, the VL's manual turbo configuration and the Volvo's distinctive estate package.

Browse Australian car auctions, save the individual listings and revisit their final outcomes. For broader research, explore the AutoMarkets Market Index or read last week's Lamborghini Temerario-led auction selection.
