Seller's Notes

This C14-generation Chrysler Imperial is an elegant and luxurious pre-war American sedan, offered from long-term family ownership and reported to be in highly original condition. Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated 4.5-litre straight-eight, which sends its power to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual transmission. This example has been owned by the seller’s family for the past 50 years. The odometer indicates 1,430 miles, which the seller believes to be accurate, though this is not warranted. This C-14-generation Imperial is finished with a stylish two-tone black and cream paint scheme, over a brown cloth-trimmed interior, featuring buttoned seat backs, and metal trim highlights. It rides on a set of 16-inch steel wheels finished in cream with chrome lips and ‘Chrysler Imperial’-branded hubcaps, and fitted with Firestone Deluxe Champion whitewall tyres. Equipment includes reverse-hinged rear doors, push-out front and rear quarter light windows, a three-spoke steering wheel, a split rear window, rear passenger ashtrays, and rear passenger B-pillar grab handles. This example has been fitted with a passenger-side under-dashboard cassette stereo, linked to a modern speaker system. The car comes with a spare wheel, a wheel brace, a jack, the registration papers, and a toolbox with a variety of hand tools. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: a full respray was carried out in 2014. The car’s last roadworthiness test was conducted in April 2024, which is understood to have resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. This Imperial’s most recent maintenance was carried out in April 2024 at an indicated 1,428 miles, though the seller has not stated what work was carried out. This C-14-generation Chrysler Imperial is a timelessly stylish and elegant pre-war American sedan, offered from long-term family ownership and reported to be in highly original condition. Presented with an appealing two-tone black and cream colour scheme, aerodynamic styling, and boasting a capable straight-eight engine, alongside a spacious and luxurious cabin, it would make a fine addition to any assembly of pre-war classics, and a charismatic companion for weekend cruising and classic car show visits. The description of this consignment is, to the best of the seller’s knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Collecting Cars requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller and performs a level of due diligence. However, potential buyers must independently satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description. Potential buyers should view or arrange inspections as well as conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to bid or buy. Please note that it is not uncommon for classic or collectible vehicles to have received cosmetic repairs in the past, either to rectify damage or refresh appearance, and this work may be undetectable even upon visual inspection. Unless there is an explicit statement by the seller to the contrary, please assume that any vehicle could have had bodywork or paintwork during its life. Furthermore, photographs may not reflect the true colour or full condition of the vehicle. It is a bidder’s responsibility to satisfy themselves of the colour and condition of a vehicle, including its interior and the existence of any remedial bodywork or paintwork, before committing to bid or buy. This includes by raising enquiries with the seller in the comments section. For vehicles, unless otherwise stated, potential buyers should also assume that any cherished registration may be retained by the seller. Please see our Terms and Conditions for full details. This vehicle’s VIN has been checked against the Australian Personal Property Securities Register, and there is no security interest or other registration kind logged against the serial number. This vehicle has been checked through the Austroads NEVDIS system, and there are no markers under the written-off or stolen databases.
