Seller's Notes

This Citroën Light 15 is a charming example of the marque’s then-revolutionary saloon car. It is powered by a 2.0-litre inline-four engine, sending its namesake’s 15hp (11kW) to the front wheels via a three-speed manual transmission. Citroën’s ‘Traction Avant’ range represented the world’s first mass-produced monocoque-bodied front-wheel-drive cars. Production ran between 1934 to 1957, and this Light 15 is a versatile five-seater family saloon variant. The vehicle has been in storage in recent years so it will need a recommissioning service prior to extended use. The odometer shows an indicated 58,442 miles. The Citroën Light 15 is finished in Grey, over a burgundy leather-trimmed interior, featuring a wooden dashboard, aluminium trim inserts and chrome accents. It rides on the correct R400 metric steel wheels, finished in off-white with chrome hubcaps, and fitted with Michelin tyres. Equipment includes an original sunroof, side window deflectors, Jaeger instrument dials and analogue clock, opening front quarter lights, wind-down windows all around, seatbelts and door card pockets. This example has been fitted with a Pioneer CD radio. The Citroën is accompanied by its owner’s handbook, some information books, and a collection of supporting invoices and handwritten records. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: There are signs of minor repairs on the car and it has been repainted in the past. The rear mudguards and the front right-hand mudguard would benefit from remedial paintwork. The vehicle has been in storage in recent years so will need a recommissioning service prior to extended use, then offering the buyer the opportunity to enjoy it as-is or conduct some cosmetic improvements. The Citroën Light 15 represented a revolutionary saloon car format in period, and while this particular car is in need of recommissioning, it is a charming 1950s classic, which the next owner could improve over time if they desired. The elegant saloon will make a characterful addition to any collection of historically significant vehicles, and a stylish companion for weekend drives and car shows. The description of this consignment is, to the best of the seller’s knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Collecting Cars requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller and performs a level of due diligence. However, potential buyers must independently satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description. Potential buyers should view or arrange inspections as well as conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to bid or buy. Please note that it is not uncommon for classic or collectible vehicles to have received cosmetic repairs in the past, either to rectify damage or refresh appearance, and this work may be undetectable even upon visual inspection. Unless there is an explicit statement by the seller to the contrary, please assume that any vehicle could have had bodywork or paintwork during its life. Furthermore, photographs may not reflect the true colour or full condition of the vehicle. It is a bidder’s responsibility to satisfy themselves of the colour and condition of a vehicle, including its interior and the existence of any remedial bodywork or paintwork, before committing to bid or buy. This includes by raising enquiries with the seller in the comments section. For vehicles, unless otherwise stated, potential buyers should also assume that any cherished registration may be retained by the seller. Please see our Terms and Conditions for full details. This vehicle’s VIN has been checked against the Australian Personal Property Securities Register, and there is no security interest or other registration kind logged against the serial number.
