Seller's Notes
A classic and rugged British 4x4, in good solid condition and ready to drive. Under the bonnet sits the original 2.25-litre inline-four engine, coupled with the original four-speed manual transmission. First registered in 1960, the vehicle was supplied new by Annand and Thompson of Brisbane, then the sole distributor of Land Rover for Queensland and the Northern Rivers. The larger of the inline-four petrol engine options, the 2.25-litre produces up to 72bhp and 120lb-ft of torque. Finished in green over black, this Land Rover retains a period-correct appearance, accented by an ivory roof and ivory painted steel wheels. The original bench style seat is designed to carry three adults across the cabin. The rear load bed is protected by a soft green tonneau cover. The vehicle is fitted with a winch at the front and rare Power Take Off ( PTO ) at the rear. Supplied with the vehicle is the original owner’s manual and service book, two original Land Rover workshop manuals, plus a Haynes and Autobooks set of repair manuals. There is no known body damage. The exterior is in good solid condition, with the paintwork said to be fair, commensurate with the age of the vehicle. There are some minor marks and scratches, but overall it presents with a characterful ‘patina’. Inside, the original seats and steering wheel are in good order, with the remainder of the cabin showing its age. All gauges and switches work as they should. A temperature gauge and voltmeter have been added. There are no known mechanical or electrical faults. The vehicle underwent a Queensland safety inspection on 5 July 2021, with a clean pass. The Land Rover’s most recent service was carried out with the odometer reading 61,700 miles. In addition to general maintenance, the shock absorbers and engine mounts were replaced. New strut brace bushes were also fitted, the radiator was overhauled, uni-joints were replaced, and five new tyres were fitted. This Land Rover Series II is a hardwearing classic British 4x4; a model that has shown its incredible dependability with many similar examples still serving the Australian Army. Offered in solid condition and benefitting from a recent mechanical overhaul, it would make for a capable classic ‘workhorse’, off-road toy on the weekends, or as a fun addition to any wider collection.
