A distinguished and elegant post-war British luxury saloon, this Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II is presented in a timeless colour scheme and has been in the same family ownership for over six decades. It is powered by a 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine, delivering power to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. Originally supplied to the Governor of South Australia, Sir Edric Bastyan, and used by him for two years; this car has had just two subsequent owners, both from the same family. This example has been used mainly for ceremonial purposes and family occasions, including weddings. The odometer indicates 90,847 miles, though this is not warranted. This Silver Cloud II is finished in a timeless shade of black with contrasting gold pinstriping, over a grey leather-trimmed interior, featuring a wood veneer dashboard, door cappings, rear picnic tables, and windscreen surround. It rides on a set of 15-inch steel wheels with chrome and body-coloured hubcaps, fitted with Firestone Deluxe Champion whitewall tyres. Equipment includes twin front spotlights, a three-spoke steering wheel, a VDO analogue clock, upper and lower zone heater and ventilation controls, Smiths gauges, a push-button radio, rear picnic tables, rear passenger vanity mirrors, and push-out front quarter light windows. A replacement VDO-Quartz clock has been installed, with the original unit retained and supplied with the car. The car is accompanied by the original owner’s handbook, parts book, and a selection of recent maintenance invoices. Two ignition keys are included. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. The seller notes that the car was stripped to bare metal and repainted in 1996 following minor body damage and scrapes. All dents were repaired, and new gold-coloured pinstriping was applied. Other specific notes from the seller include: two small stone chips on the front right-hand wing and bonnet (each approximately 1cm in diameter); and a pierced section of trim on the driver’s seat caused by a spring, requiring attention. The upholstery and interior woodwork are reported to have been reconditioned in 1990. The seller also notes there is small blemishes on the rear window flashings from the reconditioning work done. The last maintenance was in February 2025 at an indicated 90,600 miles, carried out by Mitcham Motor Garage in Hawthorn, SA, and included an engine oil and filter change and an investigation into a knock under engine load. In November 2023, at an indicated 90,306 miles, the car received a general inspection and an engine oil and filter change. In February 2023, at an indicated 89,568 miles, the brake drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, and master cylinders were repaired.
