Seller's Notes

This Land Rover Series IIa is a lesser-seen long-wheelbase pickup model, which presents in restored condition. Under the bonnet is a 2.25-litre inline-four coupled to a four-speed manual transmission with manually selectable low-range gearing to deliver excellent off-road capability. The five-figure odometer displays 74,948 miles. The car was serviced just 200 km prior to sale, which was an oil and filter change by the current owner, and during 2022 the car has been sympathetically restored. This vehicle recently completed the ‘Bay to Birdwood’ run, travelling 190 km for the day without incident. This Series IIa pickup is finished in its original hue of Mid Grey with a cream roof, over a retrimmed black vinyl-trimmed interior with Mid Grey painted elements. It rides on 16-inch steel wheels, powder-coated in the correct Limestone colour, fitted with Rovelo Ridgetrak AT tyres. This example has been restored to a high standard by its current owner which has included many replacement parts, but they have strived to keep the car as original as possible. It is accompanied by maintenance invoices from its recent restoration. The seller is not aware of any significant damage on the bodywork, though there are some dents and knocks visible from a lifetime of use. The Mid Grey paintwork is noted by the seller to be in good condition having been recently stripped and repainted in its original colour. The paint has been applied on top of the original panels which show various dents and marks, arguably preserving the character of the vehicle. Inside, the cabin presents in excellent order, with the seats having been retrimmed. Various other parts have been restored or replaced in a sympathetic way, retaining some ‘patina’ while still looking fresh. The seller notes that the engine is currently down on power and is exhibiting some ‘blow-by’, so will require attention. The seller is not aware of any other electrical or mechanical faults other than the ammeter and fuel gauge are not functioning correctly. The speedometer, oil pressure gauge, and temperature gauge are all working as they should. The latest service was carried out 200 km prior to sale by the current owner. The work comprised of an engine oil and filter change service. Prior to this, the car benefitted from an extensive restoration, which involved removal and replacement of all of the old galvanised parts which were then re-galvanised, virtually all fasteners were replaced, a full paint respray including a coating of Predator bed-liner in the rear, as well as a full chassis strip back to a bare chassis, with many parts replaced with new, the full list is below. While the engine would benefit from some attention to rectify the blow-by issue, this example is otherwise in very good order with a raft of new parts fitted during the recent restoration, and would be a very smart addition to a collection of classics.
