Seller's Notes

This Morris Mini Cooper Mk1 is an early example of the classic British hot hatch, which boasts interesting provenance as being fitted with the first Australian-assembled 998cc engine. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 998cc inline-four, driving the front wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. First registered in 1963, this example is currently registered in Australia. The odometer indicates 61,620 miles, though this is not warranted, and the mileage gauge has been stuck for the last six months. This car holds interesting historical significance as being equipped with engine number 1001, making it the first 998cc engine assembled in Australia. Build year: 1963 This example is finished in the iconic shade of British Racing Green with a contrasting white roof, over a green vinyl-trimmed interior. It rides on a set of 10-inch eight-spoke mag alloy wheels finished in green with silver lips, fitted with Falken Sincera tyres. Equipment includes mudguard flares, Smiths gauges, push-out rear windows, sliding windows, and a cassette stereo. This example has been fitted with a roll bar and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. Accompanied by two front brake discs and four brake pads (not for this car), an owner's manual, documentation confirming the car’s significance, a selection of maintenance invoices, and three keys. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: the mileage gauge has been stuck for the last six months, and a radio was fitted in the 1990s. The exterior and mechanics received restoration work in 2017 by Minis Plus (Bayswater VIC). The Morris Mini Cooper Mk1 is an iconic classic hot hatch, celebrated for its nimble handling and spirited performance. Presented in an appealing colour scheme, benefitting from previous restorative maintenance, and equipped with the first Australian-assembled 998cc engine, it would make a compelling addition to any collection of British classics, ready to deliver an enjoyable and characterful driving experience to its next enthusiast owner.
