Seller's Notes

This W111-generation Mercedes-Benz 220 SE is a rare right-hand-drive example of the elegant classic saloon, which is now in need of refurbishment and recommissioning. It is powered by a 2.2-litre inline-six, coupled to a four-speed manual transmission. The car is noted to be offered following a significant period in storage, and it will now require various works, with the condition reflected in the photo gallery. The odometer shows 38,310 miles, though this is not warranted. This W111-generation 220 SE is finished in Estoril Blue, accented by chrome front and rear bumpers, while the interior is in a complementary Metropole Blue colour with wood trims. It rides on 13-inch steel wheels, with chrome and body-colour hub caps and Winrun tyres. Features include manual windows, opening front quarter light windows, an analogue clock, heating and ventilation controls, and a radio cassette player. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: the exterior appears to be in generally good order for its age. The interior is in poor condition and needs fully restoring as can be seen in the photo gallery. The latest service was carried out during April 2024 by Jacks. The work comprised of an engine oil and filter change and a pink slip safety inspection. This W111-generation Mercedes-Benz 220 SE ‘Fintail’ is an elegant 1960s saloon, which is offered as a project in need of refurbishment and recommissioning. Noted by the seller to be mechanically running well, it would make an interesting addition to any collection, and once refinished to a high standard should prove to be a fun weekend cruiser and car show attendee. The description of this consignment is, to the best of the seller’s knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Collecting Cars requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller and performs a level of due diligence. However, potential buyers must independently satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description. Potential buyers should view or arrange inspections as well as conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to bid or buy. Please note that it is not uncommon for classic or collectible vehicles to have received cosmetic repairs in the past, either to rectify damage or refresh appearance, and this work may be undetectable even upon visual inspection. Unless there is an explicit statement by the seller to the contrary, please assume that any vehicle could have had bodywork or paintwork during its life. Furthermore, photographs may not reflect the true colour or full condition of the vehicle. It is a bidder’s responsibility to satisfy themselves of the colour and condition of a vehicle, including its interior and the existence of any remedial bodywork or paintwork, before committing to bid or buy. This includes by raising enquiries with the seller in the comments section. For vehicles, unless otherwise stated, potential buyers should also assume that any cherished registration may be retained by the seller. Please see our Terms and Conditions for full details. This vehicle’s VIN has been checked against the Australian Personal Property Securities Register, and there is no security interest or other registration kind logged against the serial number.
