Seller's Notes

This Beetle is presented in stunning restored condition, with a comprehensive mechanical rebuild in addition to its impressive cosmetic appearance. Under the engine lid is a 1916cc air-cooled flat-four motor with less than 2,000 km of use, paired with a four-speed manual transmission with oversized clutch. The Beetle was restored five years ago, maintaining a largely original aesthetic while significantly upgrading its performance and handling. The 1916cc engine features a W110 cam and dual 44mm Weber carburettors. The motor is complemented by a Petronix Flame Thrower ignition, electric fuel pump and ceramic coated TriMil custom exhaust. It has travelled less than 2,000 km since it was completed. Both the engine and gearbox mountings have been braced. The gearbox was rebuilt by Leon’s Motors in Queensland with an oversized clutch installed. To upgrade the handling, a 2-inch narrowed and fully adjustable front beam was installed, along with a large sway bar, adjustable rear suspension plates and disc brakes at the front. Inside, the car features a fully reupholstered interior with Antique Speed shifter, Wolfsburg seat belts front and rear, and new carpets, hood lining and door cards. An Antique Speed stainless steel and timber roof rack is a functional and aesthetically pleasing addition. It is sold with a file of receipts for modifications and maintenance, including the most recent service and inspection, tools, some spare parts, and images from the restoration process. Its bodywork and exterior trim including wheels, front and rear bumpers, roof racks and chrome accents are in very good restored condition. There are some minor blemishes around the engine bay and perimeter of the engine lid, where it has made contact with the aperture below. The car was repainted in red with the work completed to a high standard, and it has been well maintained since. The interior also benefits from restoration and is in excellent overall condition, as shown in the gallery below. The car presents no known mechanical or electrical faults. Leon’s Motors performed a major service on the car in October 2019 (at 29,593Kms), servicing the carburettors and motor, overhauling the transmission, re-shimming the alternator pulley and replacing the flywheel seal, o-ring, and gland nut, with a receipt provided for $3,928.36. The car has been driven intermittently since, primarily stored carefully. The car has reportedly been serviced at regular intervals and receipts will be included in the sale. This Volkswagen Beetle benefits from a comprehensive mechanical refurbishment and upgrade, in addition to a conscientious restoration of the cosmetic features. It now looks superb, and offers plenty of performance to keep up with modern traffic, making it a fun and usable classic that is sure to turn heads and delight its next owner.
