1967 Holden HR Special Station Wagon

1967 Holden HR Special Station Wagon, running a 202 3.3 Litre motor, 3 speed manual column shift gearbox for sale from Port Pirie, SA. The HR Holden. A GMH icon and certainly an Aussie automotive success story. Dealers saw 252,352 HRs leave their showrooms in the 21 months it was on the market. Second only to the EH in sales and by comparison, the “Mustang Bred” XR Falcon achieved only 90,000 sales in 19 months. With its high ground clearance, the HR was capable of going anywhere! Only 21st century SUVs can carefully negotiate tracks that the HR handled with ease. This was a rugged boxy design that ticked the box for Australian buyers. It was also one of the first cars in the world to be fitted with front seat belts as standard. These came as part of a model upgrade in September 1966 that also included windscreen washers, padded sun visors, shatter proof interior rear vision mirror, safety glass, exterior driver’s side mirror, reversing lights and rear seat belt mounting points. Repainted in the factory Finisterre Green with Grecian White roof, this HR is running an upgraded 202 3.3 Litre 6 cylinder mated to the trusty 3 speed column manual shift gearbox. Mechanically the HR is in excellent condition with the owner driving the car regularly. The HR is fitted with factory disk brakes on the front and drum at rear with factory brake booster. The HR runs a mild camshaft, extractors and a single exhaust. The interior is presented in the factory Opera & Ballet Green trim with renewed front seat vinyl and carpeting with original rear seat, door cards, dash, gauges and steering wheel. Supplied with two sets of keys with two fobs for the immobiliser. The HR is fitted with genuine Nasco rear venetians, tow bar, aftermarket Kenwood radio and a Cyclops immobiliser. The Holden boot area features the original timber flooring with vinyl and aluminium strips plus an original spare and tools. The HR is riding on 13" Dragway Alloy Mag wheel with good Radial Classic 165/75R13 tyres on the front and Bridgestone 205/65R13 on the rear with GMH centre caps .
