Seller's Notes

This long wheelbase 1971 Land Rover Series IIA pickup is a highly original and mechanically sound example of the iconic utility truck. It features a 2.6-litre inline six cylinder petrol motor, paired with a four-speed manual transmission. This particular car was commissioned as a New South Wales Bush Fire Service vehicle, and it still wears its service livery, along with various knocks and grazes from use. As a 'Suffix H' model, this is believed to have been built in early 1971, and to benefit from the desirable features of this late specification. Specified with the 2.6-litre petrol engine, it also has a large load bay with wooden slat floor. Mechanically original, the car still has its orange NSW Bush Fire Service paintwork and livery, and inside there is lightly worn brown vinyl for the seating. Sold with a set of original books, an Autobooks owner’s workshop manual, and an export literature pack Overall, the bodywork is straight and solid, though the driver’s side front corner has evidently had a minor knock, and there are some small soft dents elsewhere. The orange paintwork is in fair condition up front, with chips and scratches presenting around the headlights and on the wings, though it is in good order around the back of the truck Inside, the interior is utilitarian but functional, and it remains in ‘time warp’ condition with near-faultless Limestone paintwork across the dashboard. The three seats have some minor wear, with small holes in the driver’s seat cover, but they are all eminently usable. All of the door locks and window locks work as they should, and the felt runners are original and in superb order. There are no known mechanical faults or electrical issues. Its most recent roadworthiness test was carried out in 2020 and the car passed without any warnings or advisories. A full service was carried out by Land Rover specialists LRP Automotive in June 2021. This 1971 Land Rover Series IIA 'Suffix H' is mechanically strong and cosmetically original, and represents a lesser-seen specification with its pickup body style and 2.6-litre engine - not to mention its late model features. Initially owned and operated by the New South Wales Bush Fire Service, it has had an interesting life to date, remains wonderfully preserved, and is sure to charm its next owner.
