Seller's Notes

This Citroen DS21 is a handsome example of the ground-breaking French automobile, boasting a prior repaint and retrim. Under the bonnet is a 2,175cc carburettor-fed inline-four, driving the front wheels via a four-speed clutchless manual gearbox with column gearshift. Having been with the current vendor for over 30 years, this DS has been treated to a full respray, an interior retrim, and a recent rebuild of the hydropneumatic suspension system. The odometer indicates 29,332 miles, though this is not warranted. Build year: 1970 The car won first place in ID/DS at the 2006 Concours d’Elegance for the Citroen Car Club of NSW, and first in class for the Bastille Day Concours the year prior. A revolutionary vehicle at its introduction, the DS features streamlined bodywork styled by Flaminio Bertoni, the first disc brakes found on a mass-produced vehicle, and the renowned hydro-pneumatic suspension system with automatic levelling. This example has been fully resprayed and has been refinished in a newer Blue Amerindien Citroen hue used between 1995-2005, and the interior has been retrimmed in tan (tobac) leather upholstery, with a contrasting black dash and steering wheel. Equipment includes directional headlights, a heated rear screen, two door mirrors, a single-bar steering wheel, Jaeger gauges, air conditioning, front and rear armrests, and a Jaeger analogue clock. The car comes with the original sales brochure from CITCO Citroen Cars Glebe, as well as an OEM owner’s manual, an OEM service log book, an Autobooks period-correct owner’s workshop manual, a spare wheel, tools, and one key. Please note: the vehicle is registered with the VIN of DSFC00FC7952. The original stamped seven-digit chassis number is 4644354 as shown in the gallery. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. The latest service was during October 2024 by Continental Cars Sydney. The work comprised a rebuild of the hydropneumatic self-leveling suspension. The seller notes that for their 30-year ownership it has been maintained by Continental Cars Sydney. This Citroen DS21 is a very usable example of the landmark French vehicle. Presented in impressive condition for its age following a prior repaint in an eye-catching Blue Amerindien hue and a retrim in tan leather, this DS21 is ready to enjoy and will surely make a refined and sophisticated addition to any classic collection. The description of this consignment is, to the best of the seller’s knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Collecting Cars requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller and performs a level of due diligence. However, potential buyers must independently satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description. Potential buyers should view or arrange inspections as well as conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to bid or buy. Unless there is an explicit statement by the seller to the contrary, please assume that any vehicle could have had bodywork or paintwork during its life. Furthermore, photographs may not reflect the true colour or full condition of the vehicle. It is a bidder’s responsibility to satisfy themselves of the colour and condition of a vehicle, including its interior and the existence of any remedial bodywork or paintwork, before committing to bid or buy. This includes by raising enquiries with the seller in the comments section. For vehicles, unless otherwise stated, potential buyers should also assume that any cherished registration may be retained by the seller. Please see our Terms and Conditions for full details.
