Seller's Notes

This Porsche 914/4 is an eye-catching open-top sports car, treated to an engine rebuild in 2017 and previously converted to right-hand-drive configuration. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.7-litre flat-four, driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. This example has been with the seller for the last 19 years, and was imported to Australia from California in the early 1990s. The odometer displays 9,763 miles, though this is not warranted. Build year: 1972 The car is finished in yellow, offset by black centre racing stripes, a black Targa roof, and various decals. The cabin is trimmed in brown vinyl with perforated seat detailing. It rides on a set of 15-inch Riviera-style wheels, fitted with Goodyear Eagle NCT 5 tyres. Equipment includes a MOMO Corse steering wheel, Cibie spotlights, an Audiovox radio-cassette player, and a footwell-mounted fire extinguisher. The car was previously converted from left-hand-drive to right-hand-drive configuration. Accompanying the sale is the owner’s handbook, a magazine featuring the model, and various invoices. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: a poor-quality paint finish, various swirl marks from sanding, some peeling of the top coat due to the fitment of decals, a small cut on the base cushion of the passenger’s seat and major wear around the left-hand-side bolster, untidy dashboard trim around the steering column due to the previous left to right-hand-drive modifications, and wear on the door cards above the window winders. The windscreen spray system is inoperable Previous bodywork repairs are believed to have been made on the front right-hand corner and a small rust repair under the driver's side seat floor. The car left the factory in Zambezi Green before being painted red, and subsequently its current shade of yellow. There is a small transmission leak at the rear of the gearbox at the linkage entry point, the Cibie spotlights have not been wired in, and the front parking lights and indicators are not wired independently. There is a conditional NSW registration in place, which expires on 1 April 2026 and is not transferable The car was last serviced in July 2024 at an indicated 9,501 miles. Prior to this, the brake fluid, front brake pads, and brake calliper seals were replaced as part of an oil service in August 2023. The previous oil service was carried out in August 2022. The engine was rebuilt between February and September 2017 with new crankshaft bearings, cam bearings, OEM pistons, rings, and rebored cylinders. The odometer has previously been repaired. Dates and mileage: Jul 2024 - 9,501 miles Aug 2023 - unknown Aug 2022 - unknown Aug 2021 - unknown Jul 2020 - unknown Jun 2019 - unknown Nov 2017 - 9,402 miles Jan 2016 - 9,316 miles Sep 2015 - unknown May 2014 - 9,082 miles May 2013 - 8,679 miles Jan 2012 - unknown Jun 2010 - 8,045 miles May 2009 - 7,698 miles Feb 2008 - 7,094 miles Jan 2007 - 5,304 miles The Porsche 914/4 is a stylish air-cooled classic sports car, blending its desirable Targa-top roof with an engaging manual gearbox. This example boasts an eye-catching exterior finish, and was treated to an engine rebuild in 2017 whilst under the care of its current long-term owner. Praised by the seller for attracting plenty of admiring glances wherever it travels, it would now make a natural addition to a wider assembly of Porsches, as well as an enjoyable weekend steer or classic car show companion. The description of this consignment is, to the best of the seller’s knowledge, accurate and not misleading.
