Seller's Notes

This R107-generation Mercedes-Benz 350 SL is a refined classic roadster, fitted with an upgraded 450 SL engine and offered for sale at No Reserve. Under the bonnet now sits the naturally aspirated 4.5-litre V8, driving the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. This example has been converted to right-hand-drive configuration. It benefits from a recent service performed in September 2024. This 350 SL is finished in Carnelian Red with a navy-blue soft-top and body-coloured hard top. The cabin is trimmed in black leatherette, offset by wooden dashboard and centre console inlays. A pair of lambswool fitted seat covers are supplied, but are not currently fitted. It rides on a set of 14-inch chrome wheels, fitted with Bob Jane Australian Allrounder tyres. Equipment includes basic heating and ventilation, electric windows, and a Power Acoustik CD radio head unit. A larger 4.5-litre V8 engine from a 450SL has been installed. Accompanying the sale is the owner’s manual, various invoices and maintenance notes, a jack, spare wheel, roof release tool, and body-coloured hard top. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: deteriorated driver’s seat springs, stone chips on the front end, areas of scratches, micro blistering, and crazing on the paintwork, wear on the interior controls, small areas of lacquer peel on the wood trim, and some discolouration on the lining of the soft top roof. The offside rear quarter was repaired prior to current ownership, and areas of the bodywork are believed to have been resprayed. The power windows are functional but slow to operate, and the heater core needs replacing. Two keys are supplied which operate the ignition and boot but are not keyed to the drivers door There is evidence of some transmission oil leakage at the rear of the engine There is a valid NSW historic registration in place, which expires on 1 May 2025, however this is not transferrable under the terms of the historic registration scheme The car was last serviced in September 2024 at 193,238 kilometres by 313 Automotive, who applied lubrication, set the timing, and replaced the ignition points, rotor arm, and distributor cap. Prior to this, an ignition service was carried out in January 2024. The previous major service took place in October 2022 at 190,750 kilometres by marque specialist Star Technic, who renewed the engine oil, oil filter, steering shaft joint, sway bar links, idler arm kit, rear shock absorbers, automatic fluid and filter, and windscreen washer pump. Technicians also overhauled the suspension and steering, tightened the manifold bolts, checked the engine idle, aligned the wheels, and replaced various hoses. A replacement battery was fitted in August 2022. Invoices detailing other work undertaken are visible in the photo gallery.
