Seller's Notes

A rare homologation-era icon, this Mk1 Ford Escort RS2000 is understood to be one of only 25 examples originally imported into Australia, reportedly just three of which arrived in Modena Green. It is powered by a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated inline-four, driving the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. The odometer indicates 49,064 km, though this is not warranted. Build year: 1974 As one of the final RS2000s produced at Ford’s AVO (Advanced Vehicle Operations) facility before its closure in late 1974, this Australian-delivered car has particular historical significance and genuine motorsport provenance. This example is finished in the appealing shade of Modena Green with subtle, darker green bonnet, side, and tail decals, over a black vinyl and cloth-trimmed interior, punctuated by chrome trim highlights. It rides on a set of 13-inch steel wheels finished in metallic grey with silver lips, fitted with Pirelli Cinturato tyres. Equipment includes a top-tinted windscreen, a heated rear screen, a black leather-trimmed RS steering wheel, heater and ventilation controls, a Blaupunkt push-button radio, and an analogue clock. This example has been enhanced with twin 44 IDF Weber carburettors, a specially modified cylinder head with a Kent RL31 camshaft, a rare Group 1 extractor system, Bilstein shock absorbers front and rear, roller-bearing top mounts, and new suspension bushes throughout, as well as a quad set of front-mounted Cibie spotlights. The car is accompanied by the original owner’s manual, restoration receipts, a spare set of wheels, two BMW pancake air filters with Ford specification diagrams, and a printed breakdown of all the RS2000 models imported to Australia. There is one set of keys with the car. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: rust repairs were completed using new-old-stock panels. The vehicle has been fully repainted in its original colour. The interior has been retrimmed. This Mk1 Ford Escort RS2000 is a remarkably rare Australian-delivered example. Presented in a standout original colour and with long-term ownership by an enthusiast, it would make a superb addition to any classic rally car collection, and a rewarding historic event entrant or show car.
