1974 Holden Torana LH SL/R 5000

This 1974 Holden Torana LH SL/R 5000 features a modified V8 drivetrain and a rebuild reported to have been completed approximately 20 years ago. Its Holden 308 block has been stroked to 355 cubic inches, approximately 5.8 litres, and is paired with a T5 five-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels through a Ford nine-inch differential. The seller reports approximately 380 hp at the wheels. The odometer currently shows 47,194 km* TMU. Introduced in March 1974, the LH Torana brought a larger body and roomier interior to Holden’s medium-sized range. Four-, six- and eight-cylinder engines were offered, with the five-litre V8 version of the SL/R carrying the SL/R 5000 designation. The model also provided the basis for Holden’s L34 touring-car homologation package. Finished in satin paintwork, orange with contrasting black detailing, this example features wheel-arch flares, a bonnet scoop, front and rear spoilers, and alloy wheels with polished rims. The interior combines black upholstery with patterned seat inserts. The photographed compliance plate records October 1974, while the body plate lists L31 engine and M21 transmission codes, distinguishing its recorded factory specification from the modified drivetrain now fitted. The seller also advises that the front sway bar has been repositioned to a front-mounted arrangement. The seller reports three known owners and advises that servicing has been undertaken independently. According to the supplied history, the car was rebuilt approximately 20 years ago and has travelled around 30,000 km since that work. This distance relates to use following the rebuild and does not establish the vehicle’s total mileage. The seller describes the mechanical condition as good and reports that the car drives well, although replacement spark plugs and a tune may be required. Disclosed exterior imperfections include small paint chips and cracks. Inside, the headlining has two tears, the driver’s seat has ink marking and a small tear, and the passenger seat has a small hole. The carpet is loose in some areas.
