1975 Holden Torana LH SL/R 5000

This 1975 Holden Torana SL/R 5000 (LH) is an example that has remained with its current owner for 16 years and is represented by the seller as retaining its matching-number engine. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.0 litre Holden V8, factory-rated at 179 kW (240 hp), paired with a four-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. The odometer currently shows 232,327 km* TMU. Introduced in 1974, the LH brought a larger four-door body and V8 power to the Torana range. The SL/R 5000 combined Holden’s 308 cubic-inch engine with sports instrumentation, revised suspension and front and rear spoilers, establishing the V8 Torana formula that continued through the later LX series. The model also formed the basis of Holden’s V8 Torana touring car programme. The build plate records Mandarin Red paint under code 568–15953, black interior trim under code 18X, an L31 5.0 litre V8 and an M21 four-speed manual transmission. The exterior features contrasting black accents, chrome bumpers and front and rear spoilers, while the cabin combines black vinyl upholstery with patterned cloth seat inserts, black carpets and a centre console. Five-spoke alloy wheels are currently fitted. Round headlights replace the rectangular units, with the owner advising that Holden factory components were used, otherwise remains factory original. The car was reportedly repainted in its original colour approximately 15 years ago. The owner advises that there was one previous owner, a mechanic, before the current 16-year tenure. Servicing has been undertaken by specialist and independent workshops, and the owner reports that the engine has been rebuilt and has only been driven approximately 2,000km since rebuild. Original books accompany the vehicle, together with an owner-maintained diary recording previous work. The seller describes the paintwork as being in excellent condition and the interior as presenting like new. Included with the sale are the original books, the diary of previous work, original Torana badges, and the original wheel and trims identified in the supplied questionnaire.
