This Australian-delivered Toyota Celica RA28 LT2000 ‘lift back’ is an eye-catching Japanese coupe, which was dubbed the “mini Mustang” and is said to drive superbly.. Power comes from a 2.0-litre ‘18R-C’ inline-four, producing close to 90kW / 122hp, driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. It was delivered new and first registered via Sydney's York Toyota in March 1977, the final year of first-generation Celica production. The car was reportedly purchased from its original owner and stored in a workshop, and subsequently purchased by the seller, who paid the workshop to complete a $20k paintwork refurbishment. The seller reports the interior is still original and in immaculate condition. It has been well preserved and not had major modifications, as many of these Celicas have with engine conversions or larger brakes and so on. The odometer indicates 16,607 km, though this is not warranted. This Celica is finished in factory Silver Metallic, over a black vinyl and grey fabric-trimmed interior. It rides on a set of 14-inch wheels, finished in black with silver rims, shod with BF Goodrich Advantage T/A Drive white wall tyres. Inside, it has manually operated windows, a three-spoke steering wheel, a stereo and extremely rare air conditioning. This example has ceramic-coated extractors, a sports exhaust, and an upgraded carburettor and air cleaner. The original owner’s manual, service book and air cleaner will be included, along with its Super-Kote rust proofing warranty documents and a collection of maintenance invoices. The seller is not aware of any mechanical or electrical faults. Its most recent service was in January 2023, where staff at LPG World replaced the engine oil and spark plugs, and re-gassed the air conditioning. Prior to this, in January 2022, the brakes were reconditioned, and the exhaust was replaced. Also in January 2022, the air conditioning unit, compressor and compressor bracket were replaced. In September 2021, staff at LPG World replaced the carburettor, air cleaner and windscreen washer bottle, before fitting an electric point conversion kit. The tyres were replaced in July 2021. The car was resprayed and bumpers re-chromed, which was carried out over a two-year period and completed in July 2021. In June 2021, staff at Formula 1 Pitstop replaced the battery, fuel line, fuel filter, clutch master and slave cylinders, brake master cylinder, wheel cylinders, front brakes, air filter, engine oil, oil filter and gearbox oil. The fuel tank was serviced, and the carburettor was overhauled. This Toyota Celica ‘RA28’ LT2000 is a well-presented example of the stylish Japanese coupe.
