Seller's Notes

This rare early series 930-generation Porsche 911 Turbo is a sought-after performance icon, specified in a timeless ‘double black’ colour scheme, which the seller notes has been treated to a forensic restoration programme to showroom condition in recent years. The air-cooled turbocharged 3.0-litre flat-six, with a direct replacement 930 Classic Retrofit CDi ignition system and upgraded alternator, sends a dyno-proven 195.9kW and 520.4Nm to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. Correspondence from Porsche Cars Australia confirms that this is a ‘numbers matching’ American-market example. It was believed subsequently imported to Australia in 1986 followed by a partial RHD conversion, and the seller is understood to be the fourth Australian owner. It was professionally converted to right-hand drive by specialist Zag Automotive in 2020. The Porsche has been with the seller for the last eight years and was the subject of a documented restoration programme of bodywork and interior by Zag Automotive with mechanical and electrical work by Autowerks between 2017 and 2022, totalling over a combined $300,000, which would be materially higher in today’s environment. The odometer shows 94,400 Km. The 930-generation 911 Turbo is finished in its ex-factory black, over a matching black interior with factory-optioned front sports seats, retrimmed with new matching perforated nappa leather and black headlining. It rides on 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels with black centres and polished outer lips, fitted with Bridgestone Potenza tyres. Equipment includes electric windows, heating and ventilation, driving lights and rear wiper. This example is fitted with a new high-capacity air conditioning system, a later-model three-spoke leather-trimmed steering wheel (the original is included in the sale), a smartphone-enabled Porsche Classic head unit, and European specification rear bumper over-riders. The Porsche is accompanied by its owner’s handbook, a collection of registration documents and supporting invoices dating back to 1986, over $300,000 worth of invoices supporting the recent restoration work, two keys, the original steering wheel, spare space-saver wheel, a Michelin tyre compressor and a Porsche Classic tool kit. The car comfortably accommodates the taller driver unlike sunroof models (the seller is 2.0m tall) with additional legroom provided by an offset Porsche sports steering wheel Bespoke Covercraft soft fleece 930 fitted indoor stretch car cover is included in the sale Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Various body panels were replaced with OEM items during the programme of restoration work including the nose, front bonnet, front wheel arches and roof. The full ‘nuts-and-bolts’ restoration work included a replacement third gear and clutch plate, an engine rebuild, the fitment of an alternator uprated to 150 amps, an uprated CDI ignition system, a high-capacity air conditioning system, a replacement new wiring loom, a full interior retrim, and a bare metal respray. The seller notes that when the car was stripped, there was filler on some of the panels which could have been indicative of a side impact accident repair in the past. Any affected panels were replaced, and any alignment corrected as part of the detailed restoration work process. The most recent inspection test was on 28 February 2024. This resulted in a pass with no advisories. The last maintenance was by Porsche specialist Autowerks Wyong in January 2023 at 94,297 Km. This included the fitment of a new period-correct exhaust system and replacement new rear reflector. The car was the subject of a period of mechanical, electrical, bodywork and interior restoration work between 2017 and 2022. Over $300,000 worth of supporting specialist invoices are present in the accompanying history file. The car has travelled just 1,000km of maintenance distance since primary restoration. A collection of supporting invoices dating back to 1986 and Rego documents from 1987 onwards also accompany the Porsche. This 930-generation 911 Turbo is a modern classic performance icon, specified in a timeless ‘double black’ colour scheme, and reported to be in immaculate condition. Benefiting from a recently completed extensive documented programme of restoration work, including bodywork and fresh paint, an engine and gearbox rebuild, and a replacement wiring loom; it will no doubt appeal to collectors and marque enthusiasts. This sought-after coupe will make a stylish companion for spirited drives, tours and car shows alike.
