Seller's Notes

A handsome 1970s pillarless coupe, finished in a timeless colour combination. Under the bonnet is a naturally aspirated 2.8-litre straight-six, delivering 136kW and 240Nm of torque to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The car is said to have had just four owners from new, and is now offered for sale by the motor trade. The odometer indicates 16,172 kilometres, though this is not warranted. This W123-era Mercedes-Benz is finished in the stylish combination of silver over a tan vinyl-trimmed cabin with elegant wood veneer inlays. It rides on a set of 14-inch ‘Mexican Hat’ alloy wheels, shod with Toyo tyres. The specification includes four electric windows, cruise control, and a Philips CD player. Included in the sale is the owner’s book pack, spare wheel, and jack. The paintwork is said to be in excellent condition, and the car has previously been resprayed in areas. There are faint stone chips on the front end, minor marks around the wing mirror glass, and an imperfection behind the nearside front wheel arch. The lower section of the front end appears to be mis-shaped. Moving inside, the cabin is in fair condition, with discolouration, marks, and loose threads on the driver’s seat, small tears and discolouration on the front passenger seat, worn carpet in the footwells, delamination and cracking on the transmission tunnel veneer, and detached trim under the offside rear window. The driver’s seat outer bolster and centre section of the rear seats appear to be different colours than the rest of the upholstery. The headlamp switch surround and instrument glass are cracked, and the glovebox door appears to be misaligned. The seller is not aware of any mechanical or electrical faults. There is a valid NSW registration in place, which expires on 26 October 2023. The car was last serviced at an indicated 16,170 kilometres, which included replacing the engine oil and oil filter, transmission oil, rocker cover gasket, spark plugs, and leads. This is a stylish example of Mercedes-Benz’s sought-after W123-generation executive car, in desirable pillarless coupe configuration and fitted with a smooth straight-six and automatic transmission. Said to be unmodified save for the addition of a later CD player, it is ready to perform as a tasteful retro daily driver or stylish weekend steer for any marque enthusiast. The description of this auction lot is, to the best of the seller's knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Collecting Cars requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller, and performs a level of due diligence.
