Seller's Notes

This R107-era Mercedes-Benz 450 SL is a stylish V8-powered modern classic roadster, accompanied by the removable hard top. Under the bonnet sits the naturally aspirated 4.5-litre V8, delivering 160kW to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. This odometer on this North American market example shows 160,889 kilometres. The car is finished in red with a black soft top and a removable body-coloured hard top. The cabin is trimmed in black leather with wooden inlays on the dashboard and centre console. It rides on a set of 14-inch 15-hole wheels, fitted with mixed tyres. Equipment includes electric windows, air conditioning, cruise control, and a JVC stereo. Accompanying the sale is the first aid kit, spare wheel, hard top, and soft top fitting tools. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: a small touched-in scratch near the boot lid, and small areas of discolouration on the centre console. A small crack in the glass on the hard top has been repaired. The air conditioning system needs to be re-gassed. The seller also states that the tyres need to be replaced due to age. The car was last serviced at 160,000 kilometres, and included replacing the spark plugs. Prior to this, a service was carried out at 155,000 kilometres. This R107-generation Mercedes-Benz 450 SL is an eye-catching example of the marque’s refined 1970s roadster, recently serviced at 160,000 kilometres. Accompanied by the detachable hard top for greater year-round usability, it would now make a stylish companion for weekend drives and visits to car shows, and is sure to enhance a wider assembly of modern classics. The description of this consignment is, to the best of the seller’s knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Collecting Cars requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller and performs a level of due diligence. However, potential buyers must independently satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description. Potential buyers should view or arrange inspections as well as conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to bid or buy. Please note that it is not uncommon for classic or collectible vehicles to have received cosmetic repairs in the past, either to rectify damage or refresh appearance, and this work may be undetectable even upon visual inspection. Unless there is an explicit statement by the seller to the contrary, please assume that any vehicle could have had bodywork or paintwork during its life. Furthermore, photographs may not reflect the true colour or full condition of the vehicle. It is a bidder’s responsibility to satisfy themselves of the colour and condition of a vehicle, including its interior and the existence of any remedial bodywork or paintwork, before committing to bid or buy. This includes by raising enquiries with the seller in the comments section. For vehicles, unless otherwise stated, potential buyers should also assume that any cherished registration may be retained by the seller. Please see our Terms and Conditions for full details.
