Seller's Notes
A well-preserved example of Mercedes-Benz’s modern classic saloon car. Under the bonnet sits a carburettor-fed 2.0-litre inline-four, delivering 108bhp / 80kW and 125lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. This W123 was originally delivered to Malaysia in 1981, brand new to the late father-in-law of the current keeper, then given / bought over by her daughter in 2017, before being exported to Australia where it is offered for sale. It has been within single family ownership from new and is now a reluctant sale due to personal reasons. This stylish Mercedes-Benz saloon is finished in white over a Sienna Brown vinyl interior with retrofitted Zebrano wood inlays. It rides on a set of 14-inch wheels with chrome hubcaps and Toyo tyres. Factory-fitted equipment includes air conditioning and remote headlight levelling. A Bluetooth-compatible Nakamichi stereo and new speakers have been fitted. Accompanying the car is a raft of service invoices, the original toolkit, and original warning triangle and first aid kit. Depending what Service NSW permits, the seller intends to retain the rego plates ‘TC95GB’. The seller is not aware of any bodywork damage. The paintwork has previously been resprayed and is said to be in excellent condition, with blemishes on the front end, offside front wing and driver’s door shut. Stepping inside, the cabin presents very well, with slight wear on the driver’s seat bolster. The glovebox door is slightly misaligned. Three of the switches in the centre console (the electric window switches and electric antenna controls) are non-functional as the console was upgraded to a Zebrano wood version, and these switches were installed to fill in gaps. The rear window demister, headlight adjustment, and temperature control knob reportedly work as they should. The seller is not aware of any mechanical or electrical faults. The current roadworthiness certificate expires on 4 August 2023. The seller reports that the last three annual services were carried out in August 2022, August 2021, and August 2020. Within the seller’s five-year ownership, the heating system has been reinstated, the original instrument cluster has been modified to be self-illuminating, a new stereo system and speakers were fitted, the dashboard inlays have been upgraded to Zebrano wood, and the headlights, seat trims, sun visors, front grille and Mercedes-Benz emblem, gear knob and gaiter have all been replaced. The Mercedes-Benz W123 is a sought-after model within the marque’s back catalogue, combining its timeless styling with legendary build quality and reliability. Offered for sale in good overall condition, this W123 200 would make for a handsome and highly usable retro daily driver for any classic car enthusiast.
