Seller's Notes

An unmodified example of Porsche’s stylish 1980s grand tourer, specified with an engaging manual gearbox. Under the bonnet is a naturally aspirated 4.7-litre V8, delivering 296bh / 200kW to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The injection system was rebuilt at 156,031 kilometres, and the engine wiring loom has been replaced at a cost of $2,193. As an ‘S’ model, this example features twin rear exhaust pipes, black plastic front and rear spoilers, and colour-coded side strips. The car is finished in Grand Prix White over a black leather-trimmed cabin. It rides on a set of 16-inch alloy wheels, shod with recently fitted Pirelli tyres. Factory-fitted equipment includes climate control, cruise control, electrically operated windows and mirrors, and a rear wiper. The stereo is believed to be aftermarket. Accompanying the car is the owner’s manual, service book, spare wheel, fire extinguisher, toolkit, and two keys. The front left guard and bumper bar have previously been replaced and resprayed. The paintwork is said to be in excellent overall condition, save for minor imperfections on and around the front bumper, blemishes on the driver’s door shut and left rear-quarter panel, and small chips on the wing mirror cases and inside a couple of the wheel arches. There are faint remains of a sticker or badge on the driver-side front wing. Moving inside, there is creasing on the seats, small marks on the seat backs, and wear on the driver’s seat outer bolster, door cards, and some of the major touchpoints, though the cabin presents well overall. The boot separator between the rear seats has started to split. The seller is not aware of any mechanical or electrical faults. The car was last serviced at 156,031 kilometres, which included rebuilding the injection system (receipts supplied) and replacing the engine oil and oil filter. The engine wiring loom has been replaced during the seller’s two-year ownership. Previous services dating from 1981 to 1996 have been documented in the accompanying service book. The Porsche 928 S was introduced for the 1980 model year, and featured several new design features as well as a revised 4.7-litre engine. This is a smart example of the breed, equipped with a desirable manual gearbox and preserved in largely unmodified condition throughout. It would be well-suited to a wider collection of luxurious modern classics, and is ready to perform as an effortlessly capable long-distance cruising companion.
