Seller's Notes

This W123-generation Mercedes-Benz 200 T is a particularly well-preserved example of the handsome modern classic wagon, offered with three owners from new, and in highly original condition. Under the bonnet sits a carburettor-fed 2.0-litre inline-four, driving the rear wheels via a lesser-seen optional five-speed manual transmission. This right-hand drive example has been with the seller and third owner for two years. This example has been driven and enjoyed as intended, though well maintained throughout, and the odometer shows 234,164 Kms from new. This 200 T is finished in the sophisticated shade of Midnight Blue over a beige cloth and half vinyl-trimmed interior, featuring a contrasting brown upper dashboard and centre console. It rides on a set of 14-inch steel wheels with chrome and body-coloured hubcaps, shod in mixed tyres. The factory specification includes a heated rear windscreen, dual-zone heater and ventilation controls, and a cassette stereo. The car comes with a spare wheel, a first aid kit, a warning triangle, a jack, a fire extinguisher, an owner’s manual, a hard-back brochure, the original service booklet, all the maintenance invoices from the seller’s ownership, and various other maintenance history paperwork. While it is badged ’230 TE’ on the tailgate, this is an original 200 T model. Please note: the numberplate ‘SI 246D’ is not included in the sale. It will revert to an appropriate, age-related numberplate in the event of a successful auction. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: minor car parking dent on the boot. The seller is not aware of any mechanical or electrical faults, and they state that there are no warning lights on the dashboard. This 200 T’s most recent maintenance was carried out in May 2023 at 232,352 Kms by David Short Automotive in Hobart, which consisted of a new brake master cylinder being fitted, two new front and rear brake hoses, and the brake system being bled. New tail shaft couplings, a rocker cover gasket, oil cap, and fan switch were installed in January 2023. A new oil filter was fitted in November 2022, alongside the correct rear suspension being fitted, and new windscreen wipers. This W123-generation Mercedes-Benz 200 T is a particularly well-preserved example of the handsome classic wagon, offered with three owners from new, and in highly original condition. Reported to be in excellent overall condition given the car’s age and usage, with an appealing Midnight Blue finish, a lesser-seen five-speed manual gearbox, and characteristically robust build quality, it would make a charismatic companion for retro daily driving, weekend adventures, and longer-distance family road trips. The description of this consignment is, to the best of the seller’s knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Collecting Cars requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller, and performs a level of due diligence.
