Seller's Notes

This W123-generation Mercedes-Benz 230 TE is a well-preserved example of the classic wagon, in 7-seater configuration, which appears to remain highly original. Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated 2.3-litre inline-four, delivering around 97kW to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. This original Australian-market example was first registered in August 1985, and has been with the seller and second owner for three years. This 230 TE was built in June 1985, which puts it in the final phase of production prior to the introduction of the W124. The odometer shows 152,734 Kms. This example is finished in the handsome shade of Champagne Gold over a Palomino ‘MB-Tex’ vinyl-trimmed interior, featuring a contrasting black dashboard and centre console, as well as Zebrano wood veneer trim inlays. It rides on a set of 14-inch ‘Baroque’ alloy wheels, shod in Goodyear Optilife 2 tyres. The specification includes a manual sunroof, a full factory optioned chrome roof rack, a heated rear screen, a Becker Europa Grand Prix cassette stereo, factory air-conditioning, rear roller netting blinds, a fold-out rear-facing bench seat, and an electrically adjustable passenger door mirror. The car comes with a spare wheel, a first aid kit, a tool roll, a warning triangle, the owner’s manuals, the stamped service booklet, OEM stickers, and a collection of maintenance invoices. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: a small area of missing clear coat on the bonnet, clear coat streaking by the fuel cap, and cracking on the dashboard. The seller is not aware of any mechanical or electrical faults, and they state that there are no warning lights on the dashboard. The most recent REGO test was on 8 August 2023 at 152,489 Kms, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. The last maintenance was in August 2023 at 152,483 Kms by My Car Tyre & Auto, which consisted of the v-belt, power steering belt and brake master cylinder being replaced, new brake fluid, and the left-hand front brake calliper being cleaned and repaired. An engine oil and filter change was in June 2022 at 148,371 Kms by My Car Tyre & Auto. Other notable maintenance includes the suspension being rebuilt, a new OEM water pump fitted, the transmission serviced, the steering box coupling replaced, and the tyres being replaced in November 2019.
