Seller's Notes

This W201-era Mercedes-Benz 190E is a refined modern classic saloon, fitted with subtle body kit modifications, and which is a prime candidate for some refurbishment. Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated ‘M102’ 2.0-litre inline-four, delivering around 90kW to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The car was delivered new to the UK in May 1987, but it is believed to have been exported in the early 1990s, and is now offered for sale in Australia. This example was recently serviced in April 2024. The car is finished in Arctic White over a patterned grey cloth-trimmed cabin with wooden inlays. It rides on a set of 16-inch five-spoke Remotec wheels, fitted with mixed tyres. An aftermarket body kit has been installed, comprising revised front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and a boot lid spoiler. Equipment includes an electric sunroof, manual winding windows, heating and ventilation controls, and a Sony stereo head unit. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: fading on the paintwork and wear in the cabin. The most recent roadworthiness inspection was reportedly conducted on 29 April 2024. The car was last serviced in April 2024 at 179,470 miles by Jacks Auto. The Mercedes-Benz 190E debuted at the 1982 Paris Motor Show and was built in an era when the marque was known for its reliability and over-engineered approach to design and manufacturing. Recently serviced, this subtly modified example could be used as-is, but it is also a prime candidate for some refurbishment to bring it back to impressive condition. The description of this consignment is, to the best of the seller’s knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Collecting Cars requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller and performs a level of due diligence. However, potential buyers must independently satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description. Potential buyers should view or arrange inspections as well as conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to bid or buy. Please note that it is not uncommon for classic or collectible vehicles to have received cosmetic repairs in the past, either to rectify damage or refresh appearance, and this work may be undetectable even upon visual inspection. Unless there is an explicit statement by the seller to the contrary, please assume that any vehicle could have had bodywork or paintwork during its life. Furthermore, photographs may not reflect the true colour or full condition of the vehicle. It is a bidder’s responsibility to satisfy themselves of the colour and condition of a vehicle, including its interior and the existence of any remedial bodywork or paintwork, before committing to bid or buy. This includes by raising enquiries with the seller in the comments section. For vehicles, unless otherwise stated, potential buyers should also assume that any cherished registration may be retained by the seller. Please see our Terms and Conditions for full details. This vehicle’s VIN has been checked against the Australian Personal Property Securities Register, and there is no security interest or other registration kind logged against the serial number. This vehicle has been checked through the Austroads NEVDIS system, and there are no markers under the written-off or stolen databases.
