This 1988 BMW 325iX is a well-cared for example of the rare all-wheel drive E30-generation 3-Series, finished in a handsome colour combination and with relatively low mileage from new. Under the bonnet is the naturally aspirated 2.5-litre ‘M20’ inline six, which is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and a permanent all-wheel drive system. The odometer shows 110,151 kilometres from new. A left-hand drive, Japanese-market example, this 325iX was imported into Australia in 2005 and has been kept in storage ever since. In 2020 German Auto Haus serviced the vehicle and prepared it for its first registration in Australia. The vehicle is on Club Registration. As well as being the first BMW model to feature all-wheel drive, the E30-generation 325iX also featured flared wheel arches, larger side skirts, and a discreet rear spoiler. This example is finished in Diamond Schwartz metallic paintwork over an Anthracite sports cloth-trimmed interior. It rides on a set of 17-inch replica Alpina wheels, which are fitted with Uniroyal tyres that have covered less than 100 kilometres since being fitted in 2020. Factory fitted equipment includes heated front seats, air conditioning, and electric windows and door mirrors. Modifications include the previously mentioned replica Alpina alloy wheels, as well as a set of Eibach lowering springs. This vehicle was purchased in Japan without any paperwork. There is a small dent behind the passenger-side front wheel arch, but no other visible bodywork damage. This Diamond Schwartz paintwork is described by the seller as being in excellent condition, with only minor use-related blemishes including a handful of small stone chips on the front end. The alloy wheels are in very good order, however the seller notes that not all of the centre caps fit correctly. Inside, the cabin presents very well, with no signs of undue wear on the seats, floor mats, or door cards. The leather-covered steering wheel rim shows some minor signs of wear in line with the relatively low mileage. The seller is not aware of any electrical or mechanical faults. This 325iX was most recently serviced by German Auto Haus in 2020, with work including a routine oil and filter change, as well as the replacement of the spark plugs and rocker cover gaskets, with a valve clearance check. Prior to this, the car was serviced in 2005 before being placed into storage. In 2005 the air conditioning system was re-commissioned as it was de-gassed when it was shipped from Japan to Australia. The seller understands the cam belt to have been replaced prior to purchase in 2005. Particularly rare and highly sought-after by BMW enthusiasts, the E30-generation 325iX was the marque’s first all-wheel drive car, offering all-season capabilities combined with solid build quality and timeless styling. Presented in an appealing colour scheme, with heated sports front seats and in largely original condition, this fine example would make a wonderful addition to a collection, and a head-turning weekend driver, car show companion, or long-distance cruiser.
