Seller's Notes
This Jaguar XJ-S V12 Convertible is a refined and charismatic modern classic open-top grand tourer, which benefits from significant mechanical and cosmetic maintenance over recent years. Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated 5.3-litre V12, which sends its power to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. This original Australian-market model passed compliance in June 1989 and was acquired by the seller in 2023, following the car being stored in a garage for the previous 12 years. The odometer indicates 121,980 km, though this is not warranted. Build year: 1989 This XJ-S V12 Convertible is finished in a stylish shade of bronze with a black soft-top roof, over a beige leather-trimmed interior, featuring a contrasting black dashboard, brown carpets, and wood veneer and chrome trim. It rides on a set of 15-inch cross-spoke alloy wheels fitted with Hankook Kinergy Eco2 tyres. Equipment includes headlamp washers, a heated rear screen, an on-board computer, air conditioning, cruise control, electrically operated windows and convertible roof, and electrically adjustable heated seats. This example has been fitted with a different air conditioning unit, a JVC CD stereo, and a Momo ‘Indy’ wood-rimmed steering wheel. The car comes with two keys for the doors and boot, a jack, the original steering wheel, the owner’s manuals in a green leather wallet, the service booklet, and a selection of maintenance and parts invoices. One ignition key is included. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: a small blemish on the boot and on the driver’s door. Inside, the leather upholstery on the seats and rear pillars has been replaced, and the door sill kick plates are in average condition. An inspection from October 2024 noted that the car had accident damage to the right rear quarter panel, which was poorly repaired. The seller notes that the manual mirrors do not work, the aerial doesn’t go up, and there is no spare wheel. This XJ-S’ most recent maintenance was carried out in October 2025 at an indicated 121,947 km by G&F Automotive, which consisted of the gearbox being removed, the torque converter and shift seals being replaced, the side plate and sump being resealed, and the transmission oil being changed. The front seats, centre console lid, door handles, and rear quarter panels were retrimmed in June 2024 by Artisan Auto Interiors. Significant maintenance was carried out in May 2024 by technicians at All Classic Car Restorations, which included, but was not limited to, the front cross member bushes being replaced, new sway bar and link bushes, a new fuel return regulator, a bracket on the fuel tank being repaired, the fuel tank repainted, and a new bonnet strut, spark plugs, fuel filter, injector seals, and a radiator cap. The convertible roof was replaced in March 2024. In February 2024, technicians at G&F Motor Repairs fitted new front and rear brake callipers, discs and pads, replaced the ABS ECU, fitted a new front hub, installed a new handbrake kit, replaced the brake calliper flexi hoses, fitted new sway bar pins, replaced the suspension V-mount cradles, installed new front shock absorbers and front wheel bearings, and renewed the brake fluid. This Jaguar XJ-S V12 Convertible is a stylish yet very capable modern classic open-top grand tourer, which benefits from significant mechanical and cosmetic maintenance over recent years. Presented with an appealing bronze-over-beige colour scheme, handsome styling, and boasting a comfortable cabin alongside a smooth yet potent V12 engine, it would make a charismatic companion for weekend cruising and classic car show visits alike.
