A modified example of the second-generation Toyota MR2 GT Turbo, a lightweight and engaging mid-engined sports coupe. It is now powered by a turbocharged 2.4-litre Honda K24 inline-four engine, delivering up to 259kW to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a factory limited-slip differential. The engine conversion features a Garrett GTX3582R Gen 2 twin-scroll turbocharger, managed by a Haltech Elite 1500 ECU and supported by an upgraded fuel, cooling, and intercooling system. This example was originally a Japan-delivered model, which was later imported into Australia, where it has only recently been acquired by the seller. The odometer indicates 108,750 km, though this is not warranted. Build year: 1989 This MR2 GT Turbo is finished in a stylish shade of black, over a black leather and synthetic suede-trimmed interior. It rides on a set of 17-inch Enkei multi-spoke alloy wheels fitted with Yokohama Advan Neova tyres. Equipment includes pop-up headlights, a digital clock, automatic heater and ventilation controls, and electrically operated windows and door mirrors. Externally, this example has been enhanced with later ‘Kouki’ taillights, a Gen3 rear spoiler, a Gen3 polyurethane front lip, tinted windows, fibreglass duct extensions, and a ceramic coating applied by Gilded Detailing in December 2025. The K24 engine swap retains a stock bottom-end and is paired with a Hux Racing gearbox and mount adapter kit, along with an OS Giken twin-plate clutch and custom NPC flywheel. Forced induction is delivered by a Garrett GTX3582R Gen 2 turbocharger mounted on a custom steam-pipe exhaust manifold with a Turbosmart 50mm ProGate wastegate, feeding a 3.5-inch dump pipe into twin 3-inch mufflers. Cooling and intake upgrades include a water-to-air intercooler system with a Bosch pump, alloy heat exchanger and radiator, dual oil coolers, alloy water pump housing, and a Davies Craig 12V electric water pump. The fuel system is configured for E85 capability and includes Delphi 1,400cc injectors, dual Bosch 055 pumps in a surge tank, a Deutschworks in-tank lift pump, a Raceworks fuel pressure regulator, a flex-fuel sensor, an Innovate wideband O2 sensor, and a 4-bar MAP sensor. The electronic management system comprises a Haltech Elite 1500 ECU paired with a Haltech CAN gauge. Suspension and handling upgrades include BC coilovers, Whiteline front and rear sway bars, SuperPro suspension bushes, full polyurethane control arm bushes, braided brake and clutch lines, and an Evo VII brake master cylinder. The braking system features LS400 front discs with Nissan S15 front callipers, along with RX-8 rear discs and Gen3 MR2 rear callipers with an adaptor kit. Additional equipment includes an Optima dry-cell battery, a Momo steering wheel, a Dragonball Z-style gear knob, a Kenwood CD stereo with Bluetooth connectivity, and air-conditioning delete hardware. The sale includes two keys, a recent service receipt and inspection report from Toys Garage, and a dyno graph produced by the same workshop. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: the car received a closed-door respray by a previous owner approximately six years ago. The rear bumper reportedly has a small blemish approximately the size of a five-cent coin. A safety inspection for registration was completed on 9 January 2026. The seller states that the car’s most recent maintenance was carried out in November 2025 at around an indicated 108,000 kilometres by Toys Garage. Work included diagnosing a low fuel pressure issue, replacing the external surge tank fuel pump, installing an additional power supply cable to the fuel pump relay, and performing a service with fresh engine oil and filter. The workshop also inspected the cooling system, belts, suspension, exhaust system, steering components, brake condition, and drivetrain boots, and checked fluid levels and lighting operation. The seller states that prior to this, the seller reports carrying out an engine oil and filter service and replacing the spark plugs at approximately an indicated 107,000 km. The seller states that under their ownership, the differential and gearbox fluids have also been replaced. This Toyota MR2 GT Turbo combines the lightweight, mid-engined balance of the second-generation model with a significant performance upgrade in the form of a turbocharged K24 powertrain and supporting drivetrain and chassis modifications. Finished in black with a matching interior and in desirable hardtop configuration, it also features a wide range of upgraded cooling, fuel, suspension, and braking components. This MR2 would make an engaging addition to a collection of modified Japanese performance cars and promises an exciting driving experience on spirited drives or enthusiast events.
