Seller's Notes

A fine example of the practical modern classic estate car, offered in highly original condition and specified with the optional folding rear bench seat for enhanced practicality. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.0-litre inline-six, delivering around 177bhp to the rear wheels via a smooth-shifting four-speed automatic transmission. The odometer displays 248,824 kilometres (154,612 miles) from new. This four-owner W124-generation Mercedes-Benz 300 TE estate has been with its current owner for eight years. This 300 TE is finished in Smoke Silver metallic with beige MB Tex upholstery, punctuated by handsome wood inlays. It rides on a set of 16-inch alloy wheels, fitted with Pirelli Cinturato P6 tyres. Factory-fitted equipment includes electric front and rear windows, electrically adjustable door mirrors, an electric sunroof, cruise control, air conditioning, self-levelling rear suspension, rear facing boot-mounted seats, and a rear load blind and dog guard. The original black instrument dials have been replaced with white items, and a modern Bluetooth-compatible CD player stereo has been fitted in the cabin. The car is accompanied by its original owner’s handbook, service and parts invoices, first aid kit, hazard triangle, jack, original tool kit and four original 15-inch W124-generation wheels. It will come with a Victorian RoadWorthy Certificate if the winning bidder is a Victorian buyer. As the car is on Club plates currently, the licence plates have to be returned. The seller is not aware of any bodywork damage, though they note that a minor rust repair was performed beside the rear side windows. The Smoke Silver metallic paintwork is reported to have been resprayed and is described as being in very good condition. There is some light stone chipping on the car’s front end and other small markings which are expected from a car of this age. The seller also notes some slight damage to the offside rear pillar, and some stone chips on the side door. Inside, the original cabin presents particularly well, with some creasing on the beige MB-Tex upholstery, but with no major wear or heavy discolouration. The seller notes some cracking to the lacquered wooden panel on the centre console. The seller is not aware of any electrical or mechanical faults, thought they do report that the radio aerial is not connected. This 300 TE’s latest service was carried out during February 2022 at around 246,000 km by the current owner. The work comprised of an engine oil and filter change, along with the replacement of the brake fluid, rear suspension struts and self-levelling suspension oil. Prior to this, the car was serviced in February 2021 which was a brake fluid change, and during February 2019, which was a brake fluid, engine oil, and filter change. During the seller’s ownership a number of other maintenance items have been performed on the car, including a rebuild of the self-levelling suspension system, the replacement of the air conditioning and the timing chain cover, new rocker cover gasket fitted, new valve guide seals, idle control valve serviced and new rubber vacuum hoses fitted, fuel distributor serviced, new front shock absorber, new lower ball joints, new tie rods, new steering damper, and new front bump stops. It has also received a new radiator, new power steering hoses, a new battery fitted in 2021, a new upper front shock absorber support, a second hand end muffler, new oxygen sensor, new accelerator assembly, new tail gate struts, new front and rear discs and pads, and a set of new tail lights. The W124-generation Mercedes-Benz is renowned for its superb build quality and handsome Bruno Sacco body styling. This four-owner example has been well-maintained by its current keeper, and is reported to deliver an excellent ride quality which isn’t compromised when the rear is loaded up thanks to its self-levelling suspension. Presented in smart overall condition and featuring the optional folding rear seats, this 300 TE is now ready to be enjoyed as a comfortable year-round daily or a long-distance touring companion for many miles to come, with ample room for the whole family.
