Seller's Notes

This R129-generation Mercedes-Benz 500 SL is a refined open-top grand tourer, offered for sale from 21-year ownership. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8, delivering 240kW to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The odometer displays 156,276 kilometres. This example is finished in dark grey with a lighter grey lower section over a grey leather-trimmed cabin, punctuated by wooden inlays. It rides on a set of 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, fitted with mixed tyres. Equipment includes electrically adjustable seats with three-position memory, cruise control, air conditioning, switchable suspension, an electrically operated rollover bar, and a Becker Mexico 2000 stereo with boot-mounted CD autochanger. Accompanying the sale is the service book, a maintenance invoice, and the warning triangle. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: scratches and imperfections on the paintwork, a stain on the carpet, worn seats, and general age-related wear throughout the cabin. There is a valid NSW registration in place, which expires on 18 April 2025. The car was last serviced in October 2024 at 156,276 kilometres by Silver Star Motors, who replaced the engine oil, oil filter, fuel filter, brake fluid, coolant, right-hand tie rod assembly, and park brake handle. The two previous recorded services were carried out in December 2013 at 141,501 kilometres by Peter Hallworth Motors and July 1991 at 1,488 kilometres by Peter Warren (Fairfield) Pty Ltd. Mercedes-Benz (NSW) Pty Ltd completed the Pre-Delivery Inspection on 26 March 1991. The R129-generation Mercedes-Benz SL is a talented modern classic grand tourer, combining its stylish Bruno Sacco-designed bodywork with a choice of smooth engines and a comfortable interior. Many have covered significant mileages owing to their impressive build quality and longevity, and this example is offered for sale from 21-year ownership with 156,276 kilometres on the odometer. Freshly serviced in October 2024, it is now ready to serve as an enjoyable retro daily driver as well as a refined fair-weather cruiser. Furthermore, photographs may not reflect the true colour or full condition of the vehicle. It is a bidder’s responsibility to satisfy themselves of the colour and condition of a vehicle, including its interior and the existence of any remedial bodywork or paintwork, before committing to bid or buy.
