Seller's Notes
A smart example of BMW’s second generation 7 Series, with low mileage for its age. A 4.0-litre BMW ‘M60’ V8 provides the power, coupled to a five-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Being the 740iL, this is the long wheelbase model of the E32 generation. This well-appointed luxury saloon features electronic damper control, ABS brakes, traction control, and front and rear parking sensors. Inside, there are electric adjustable front seats with memory, double glazed windows, an electric tilt-and-slide sunroof, six-stack CD player with ten-speaker sound system, rear privacy blind, and trip computer. The car rides on 15-inch BBS cross-spoke alloy wheels. It remains in its original specification with no modifications. Sold with the original sales documents, log books, keys and tools, as well as early service history and receipts. The BMW has not suffered any bodywork damage, and there are flush shut lines and even panel gaps throughout. The wheels and external trims are in very good original condition, presenting minor instances of ageing and fogging of the headlight covers. There are also some marks on the driver’s side front and rear bumper corners. Its Alpine White paintwork is original and in impressive order. There is a small mark on the passenger-side front door from another car door opening into it, plus some very light stone chipping. Inside, the car has been very well preserved and the original black leather upholstery is excellent, with the dashboard and door cards, gauges and controls also presenting extremely well. The headlining is starting to sag slightly at the rear. Not all speakers are working currently with an amplifier problem the suspected culprit, but the car is otherwise running well and the other electronics work as they should. A roadworthy inspection was conducted on 12 July 2021 and the car passed first time, through with an advisory that the rear tyres are worn and will require replacement. A new battery was fitted in October 2020. It has seen minimal use in recent years and there is no formal service history apart from that covering the car’s early life. This 1993 BMW 740iL is in very good original condition, and presents well inside and out. A relatively low-mileage example, it drives smartly and the powerful 4.0-litre V8 runs smoothly. It is equipped with plenty of comfort and convenience figures, and represents a particularly sophisticated modern classic.
