A very usable example of BMW’s 1990s performance coupe, which has been kept in good mechanical order by the current long-term owner. Under the bonnet is a 3.0-litre ‘S50’ inline-six, delivering 282bhp to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. This M3 features upgraded Bilstein and Eibach suspension, plus a Supersprint exhaust system. It has been with the seller for the last nine years. This M3 is finished in Avus Blue metallic over black leather upholstery, including the original ‘Vader’ seats and M tricolour accents. Its specification includes an electric sunroof, the full leather trim, electric windows, electrically adjustable front seats, on-board computer, and climate control. While it remains largely original, it has been subtly modified with Bilsten shock absorbers, Eibach springs (original springs also included with sale), a Supersprint exhaust system, and an OEM Z3 M short shifter for the gearbox. The owner’s handbook and service book are included, along with records for most servicing since purchase in 2012. The maintenance over the last nine years has mainly been carried out by the seller, who is a trained BMW technician. The seller is not aware of any significant panel damage or prior accident repair work. Its Avus Blue paintwork is believed to be largely or wholly original, and is said to be in good condition, with some stone chips on the front and rear bumpers, and some light scratches on bodywork. The black leather upholstery presents well for its age, but with some modest bolster wear on the driver's seat, and slight surface scratches on the rear seats. The seller also reports some delamination of door trim material on the passenger side, cracking of the speaker surrounds, and slight sagging of the roof lining at the rear. The air-conditioning is not currently working, the passenger's seat recline function is inoperative, and the on-board computer display turns off intermittently. Other than this, there are no known electrical faults or foibles. Its last service was an engine oil and filter change in November 2021, carried out by the owner. The car has received annual oil changes regardless of kms driven during their custodianship. Other significant work over the last nine years includes a major service upon their purchase, the suspension upgrade, replacement of the engine rear main seal, and new transmission seals/bushes and a new clutch and flywheel in 2014. The driver’s window regulator was replaced in 2020, the wheels were refurbished in 2019, and an OEM CD43 head unit has been installed, along with an uprated Bavsound speaker package. This BMW M3 is a great driver’s car, which is reported to be in good condition. The E36-generation car remains popular with collectors, and offers a compelling blend of modern era performance and analogue thrills. Offered from long-term ownership and cared for by its BMW technician custodian, this M3 is now ready to delight another enthusiast.
