Seller's Notes

This is a stunning example of one of the best performance coupes BMW has ever produced, and now a true modern classic. It is now incredibly hard to find cars in such superb condition; presented in one of the most sought-after factory colour schemes and benefitting from a recent extensive replacement of all things perishable. Under the hood is the 3.0-litre dual overhead cam ‘S50’ straight-six, which drives the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer displays just 77,721 miles from new, which is supported by the car’s maintenance history. This right-hand drive E36-generation BMW M3 is understood to have had just four keepers from new, and is now offered for sale from a private collection, having undergone $10,000 in perishables replacements (see list below) in August 2021. This M3 is finished in the appealing and sought-after Avus Blue metallic, while the cabin was specified with rare grey Alcantara and patterned cloth upholstery. It rides on the correct set of factory 17-inch M3 ‘Style 22’ alloy wheels combined with factory recommended new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres. Factory-fitted equipment includes electric windows, an electric sunroof, air conditioning, and the original BMW radio/cassette player and six stack CD player in the boot. The car has been fitted with an aftermarket sports exhaust, which is a joy to hear. It will also be accompanied by the full original set of service, ownership and marketing books, including service history and more recent receipts for all the recent perishables replacements. Further hallmarks of its wonderful originality are that it even has the radio code, torch and full tool kit included. To the best available knowledge, there is no bodywork damage or accident history. The Avus Blue metallic paintwork is reported to be in outstanding condition, with the only notable blemish being a small stone chip on the bonnet. Inside, the cabin presents equally well, with only a few minor signs of use throughout, including a small mark and light scuffs. There are also small scuffs and normal signs of wear and tear – commensurate with the age and low kms – on the cloth-trimmed door card. There are no known electrical issues, mechanical faults, or problems with the controls, switches or instruments. This car is currently road registered and passed its most recent registration inspection without issue. This M3’s most recent mechanical maintenance was carried out in August 2021 at approximately 77,300 kilometres, and in addition at a cost of more than $10,000 all perishables (due to lack of use) were replaced. No mechanical issues were found at this time. In addition to a full service, this also included the replacement of all four tyres, the engine mounts, the electric window regulators, the brake hoses, the brake discs and pads, the transmission mount, the shock absorbers and strut mounts, and various bushes. Prior to this, the car spent around five years in storage, and was serviced by Col Crawford Motors in March 2015 at 71,257 kilometres, and in January 2013 at 68,003 kilometres. Offered in excellent cosmetic and mechanical order following an extensive mechanical refurbishment, this E36-generation BMW M3 is a fantastic example of the iconic and highly sought-after performance coupe. Ready to drive and enjoy immediately, it represents an exciting opportunity for any fan of the marque, and should make a fine addition to any collection, as well as a rewarding weekend driver or head-turning daily runner.
