Seller's Notes

A well-presented and low-mileage example of the Mercedes-Benz flagship V12-powered modern classic, with the optional removable hard top. Under the bonnet is the ‘M120’ 6.0-litre V12, delivering 389bhp to the rear wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission. This SL600 was first registered in 1995 in Hong Kong, only travelling 52,000 kilometres from new as displayed on the odometer. This SL600 is finished in Blue-Black metallic with a co-ordinating removable hardtop, over black leather-trimmed cabin with walnut inlays. It rides on original 18-inch five-spoke AMG alloy wheels, wrapped in Hankook tyres. Factory-fitted equipment includes electrically adjustable and heated front seats with three-position memory, climate control, cruise control, headlight wipers, and an automatically dimming rear-view mirror. This car is accompanied by its owner’s handbooks, stamped service book, service receipts from 2011 onwards, toolkit, fire extinguisher, spare wheel, warning triangle and three keys. The resprayed Blue-Black metallic paintwork is in very good condition, with only some minor imperfections including small scratches on the front and rear bumper, along with a small bird dropping blemish on the bonnet. Interior, the black leather trimmed cabin is in very good condition. There is minor creasing on both front seat inserts, a small mark on the driver’s door card, along with minor wear around the seat control trimming and driver’s backrest panel, in line with the vehicle’s age. There are no known mechanical or electrical faults. The most recent roadworthiness test was carried out in December 2021 with a clean pass. The most recent routine service was at 50,837 kilometres by Carrera Sport Workshop, where technicians replaced the engine oil, oil filter, spark plugs, air filter, oil filler cap, headlamp wiper blades, and performed a wheel alignment and wheel balance. Prior to this, the SL600 was serviced at 48,512 kilometres, including the front suspension cells. At 46,852 kilometres, the front and rear brake pads where replaced, new rear sway links installed, rear suspension cells, and a routine service was carried out. The vendor also notes that the left front shock absorber was overhauled in April 2021, when the vehicle also received new valve covers and a transmission service. The wiring loom was replaced by Coutts Mercedes in 2012, supported by Mercedes Germany. This did not fail, but during a routine service, the service manager put the claim through for replacement under warranty. Only 38 examples of the SL600 were ever delivered to Australia making this a rare opportunity, and this must be one of the lowest-mileage cars, not to mention one of the best preserved. This R129-generation Mercedes-Benz SL600 boasts a smooth and sonorous V12 engine, and benefits from a recent service to ensure it is ready to enjoy. It is a handsome contemporary classic that should make a wonderful long-distance cruiser for many for miles to come, with greater year-round usability thanks to the included factory hardtop roof.
