Seller's Notes

This Toyota Celica GT-Four RC is a very well-preserved example of the rare limited-production Japanese homologation special, offered fresh from a recent full service. Under the bonnet sits the turbocharged 2.0-litre ‘3S-GTE’ inline-four, delivering around 208bhp to all four wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. This example was originally a Japan-delivered model, which was recently imported to Australia, and is now offered for sale via the motor trade. The odometer shows 120,600 Kms from new. This Celica GT-Four RC is one of just 5,000 examples produced worldwide, and is one of only 1,800 that were allocated to the Japanese Domestic Market. In the Japanese Domestic Market the model was known as the GT-Four RC, whilst it was sold in Australia as the ‘Group A Rallye’, and in Europe as the ‘Carlos Sainz Edition’. The Celica GT-Four RC was produced to homologate the model for Group A competition, and featured a water-to-air intercooler instead of the standard air-to-air unit, as well as a redesigned bonnet to help evacuate air from the engine bay, a small inlet duct for timing belt cooling, and a lighter, more aerodynamic front bumper. The model also featured a slightly redesigned and lighter rear bumper, laser-clad valve seats, a more powerful electronic radiator fan, a weight-saving oil sump welded to the chassis centre member, a lightened exhaust system, a short-shift gearbox, with triple cone synchromesh on gears two and three, and shortened clutch pedal travel. Other notable factory upgrades include revised suspension, a viscous coupling on the centre differential, and a torque-sensing Torsen limited-slip differential. This example is finished in the bold shade of Super Red over a black cloth-trimmed interior, featuring patterned inserts on the seats and door cards. It rides on an aftermarket set of 17-inch Compomotive Motorsport multi-spoke alloy wheels finished in gloss-gunmetal, shod in Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres. The factory specification includes pop-up headlights, automatic air conditioning, a heated rear windscreen, and electrically adjustable door mirrors. This Celica GT-Four RC has been upgraded with specialist aftermarket front grilles, a HKS Hi-Power Silent exhaust system, a Toyota-branded Momo steering wheel, a Pioneer Carrozzeria CD stereo with USB and auxiliary inputs, and Razo pedals. The car comes with tools, a spare wheel, two keys, the safety certificate, the concessional RAV entry approval certificate, a serial number search certificate, the Japanese export certificate, and a parts invoice. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: two chips on the passenger door sill, and a repair to the driver’s seat. The seller is not aware of any mechanical or electrical faults, and they state that there are no warning lights on the dashboard. This Celica GT-Four RC’s most recent maintenance was carried out at around 120,550 Kms, which consisted of a full service, including an engine oil and filter change, a new air filter, a new OEM timing belt kit with tensioner and water pump, as well as new spark plugs, and an air conditioning service and regas. Other notable maintenance includes a previous full ‘glass-out’ respray, which also included all new seals being fitted. This Toyota Celica GT-Four RC is a very well-presented example of the rare limited-production Japanese homologation special, offered fresh from a recent full service. One of just 1,800 examples produced for the Japanese Domestic Market, with a raft of desirable factory performance and cosmetic upgrades, further enhanced with a few discerning aftermarket upgrades, it would make a notable addition to any assembly of Japanese performance heroes, and a rewarding companion for retro daily driving, weekend sprints, and visits to car shows alike.
