Seller's Notes

An eye-catching and subtly modified low-mileage example of BMW’s iconic 1990s performance car. Under the bonnet is the superb BMW 3.2-litre ‘S50’ inline-six engine (now supercharged), driving the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. This BMW has been with its current keeper for the last six years, who had the suspension and clutch renewed in the last 15,000 km and the VANOS system serviced around 19,000 km ago. The car was delivered to Australia when new, and is offered for sale in very good cosmetic and mechanical order. This M3 is finished in Bright Red (Hellrot) over a Grey Nappa leather cabin punctuated by M tri-colour accents on the seats, gear knob and steering wheel. It rides on a set of modern 18-inch BMW M-Sport light alloy wheels in Gunmetal Grey. (The original BMW M3 17-inch wheels with good tyres are included in the sale). The car is equipped with electrically adjustable front seats, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, electric windows, a trip computer, AC Schnitzer pedals, an electric sunroof, and the original stereo with boot-mounted 6CD changer. Modifications (fully engineered) include the bolt-on Vortech V9 supercharger, a stronger clutch, and Remus exhaust. The owner notes that the car could easily be returned to its original configuration once acquired by the new keeper, and that the modifications are accompanied by an Engineer’s Certificate and a Queensland Transport Modification Plate. The car comes with the original owner’s book pack, service book, various receipts and invoices, original toolkit, locking wheel nut key, jack, spare wheel, new exterior door handle rubbers, original wheels, and two keys. There is no known bodywork damage. The paintwork is reported to be in very good condition for its age. There is a very small dimple on the bonnet, a couple of minor blemishes on the side sill, and a very slight rub mark on the front end from the use of a car bra. Some minor scuffs are visible on the black lip spoiler. The rubber gasket on the exterior door handles is cracked, and replacement genuine gaskets are included in the sale. A couple of minor imperfections are visible on the driver’s rear wheel. The tyres are in excellent condition with 6.5mm of tread remaining on the rears and 6mm of tread on the fronts. Moving inside, the cabin is free from any rips or tears and presents well, showing some modest age-related wear, creasing across the leather seats, a little discolouration on the driver’s seat, and some flaking on the passenger-side air vents. No mechanical or electrical faults have been detected. The most recent roadworthiness test resulted in a clean pass and is valid until 24 June 2022. The last service was carried out just 600 km ago at 129,007 km in November 2020 by the owner. Prior to this, an oil service was performed at 127,551 km in January 2018 and again in July 2016 at 126,120 km, when the brake fluid and air filter were also changed. An oil service was carried out in January 2015 at 123,904 km, along with a coolant and microfilter change. In the last 15,000 km, the clutch, tyres, master cylinder and wiper blades have been changed, the air conditioning has been re-gassed, and the suspension has been renewed with new shock absorbers, camber bars and suspension bushes. The VANOS system was dismantled, checked and re-calibrated 19,000 km ago. This is a well-presented and mechanically enhanced example of BMW’s coveted E36-era M3, reported by the owner to drive and handle superbly, accompanied by the theatrical sound of its supercharged straight-six engine. While the modifications could always be reversed in the future, this upgraded M3 is ready to impress as a superb daily driver or natural addition to any M-car collection.
