Seller's Notes

This is a well-maintained and tastefully upgraded 996-era Carrera, which is often hailed as the purist’s choice, featuring rear-wheel drive and a naturally aspirated engine. Under the engine lid is a 3.4-litre flat-six engine, producing 296bhp which is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed Tiptronic transmission with steering-wheel mounted shift buttons. An original C23-code, Australian-market car, this 911 is finished in the desirable hue of Zenith Blue metallic and features a genuine Porsche Aerokit as well as upgraded IMS bearing. This 996’s Zenith Blue metallic exterior is complemented by a genuine Porsche Aerokit featuring a height-adjustable rear wing, upgraded front bumper and side skirts. The car rides on its original 18-inch ‘SportClassic’ two-piece alloy wheels with coloured Porsche crests, shod with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, and housing red brake callipers. The cabin is trimmed in smart grey leather throughout, and is now equipped with a modern Pioneer stereo with Bluetooth. Standard equipment includes electric windows, mirrors and sunroof, climate control, electrically adjustable front seats with three-position driver’s memory, and a trip computer. Accompanying the car is the original owner’s manual and service book, a raft of maintenance invoices, previous registration renewal documents, correspondence from Porsche, original stereo, spare wheel, and toolkit. The car suffered from scratches in 2013 as a result of vandalism, which resulted in damage to the paint that has since been corrected. This damage affected only the paintwork; there were no dents or bodywork issues. The Zenith Blue metallic paintwork is reported to be in excellent condition now. The original grey leather interior presents very well, with minor creasing to the front seats and slight wear to the steering wheel. There are no known mechanical or electrical faults. The most recent roadworthiness test was on 6 October 2021 at 106,502 kilometres, when the car recorded a clean first-time pass. The car’s most recent scheduled maintenance was carried out in October 2021 at 106,565km by Porsche specialist Autowerks, who performed a minor service, replacing the engine oil and filter, and unblocking the plenum drains. The car was given a thorough inspection, with checks of the air filter, hoses, underbody, radiator and air intakes, braking hoses and lines, drive shafts, and tyres. One of the bonnet struts was also renewed. During this visit, the alternator was also replaced, along with the fan resistors, and both front suspension control arms; with the total cost of the service coming to $3,319.35. The car has been serviced every year by Autowerks during the current keeper’s four-year ownership. In May 2013 at 92,995 kilometres, Autowerks replaced the IMS bearing with an upgraded part. They also performed a full service, which included the replacement of the spark plugs, timing chain, transmission oil and filter, brake fluid, and other filters. Dates and mileage (prior to current ownership): Apr 2014 – 101,785 kilometres – Autowerks May 2013 – 92,995 kilometres – Autowerks Feb 2013 – 91,650 kilometres – Streeting Automotive Repairs Apr 2012 – 83,170 kilometres – Porsche Centre Brighton Feb 2010 – 78,544 kilometres – Nine Plus Porsche Service Centre Apr 2008 – 71,996 kilometres – Nine Plus Porsche Service Centre Jul 2006 – 63,560 kilometres – Scuderia Veloce Motors Nov 2003 – 40,513 kilometres – Porsche Centre Melbourne Aug 2002 – 34,131 kilometres – Porsche Centre Melbourne Feb 2001 – 23,996 kilometres – Porsche Centre Melbourne Feb 2000 – 11,305 kilometres – Porsche Centre Melbourne The Porsche 996 was a significant departure from the established 911 formula, with its water-cooled engine and upgraded design, but still received widespread praise from the automotive press. This example boasts a genuine Aerokit as well as a notable IMS bearing upgrade for the next owner’s peace of mind, and is reluctantly being sold by its current keeper who is relocating internationally. Providing one of the great analogue driving experiences, this Porsche 911 Carrera is now ready to be enjoyed as anything from an eye-catching daily driver to an occasional weekend toy.
