This 1999 Porsche 911 is an original 996-generation GT3 Supercup car, finished in its original eye-catching ‘Supercup’ livery. It is powered by its original 3.6-litre flat-six, which develops around 370hp and 273 ft-lbs of torque, and sends it to the rear wheels via its original six-speed manual transmission. The 996-generation 911 GT3 Supercup served as the basis for the highly successful 996 GT3 / RS road car, and its engine was based on the unit used in the GT1 racer. Porsche first hand-built a batch of 27 996-generation 911 GT3 Supercup cars in 1998. An accompanying Porsche letter confirms that this was one of 81 cars produced in a second hand-made batch in 1999, before the marque stepped up production in 2000, supporting the racing series around the world. This example was initially sent to the Porsche distributor in Tokyo, remaining in Japan until it was exported to Australia in 2007. It was raced at various Australian tracks between 2008 and 2013, before being retired and put into storage. It was then serviced and bought by its current owner in 2020, and now is offered for sale in Perth. Being 25 years old, the car is eligible for a wide selection of historic, classic, and Porsche road and track events around the world. The odometer shows 8,161 Km. This pleasingly original 996-generation Porsche 996 GT3 Supercup is finished in white, retaining the distinctive blue European ‘Supercup’ stripes and original race livery which were applied for its original exportation to Japan. The stripped race-ready cabin features a full roll cage, an Alcantara-trimmed Momo steering wheel, lightweight door cards with carbon fibre trims, and a carbon fibre central switch panel. It rides on its original 18-inch centre-lock BBS split-rim alloy wheels, framing red Porsche-branded brake callipers and drilled discs, and fitted with unused Hankook Venus TD cut slick tyres. A further two sets of these original race wheels are supplied and are fitted with Pirelli and Michelin slicks. A set of wet weather tyres (without rims) will also be provided. A pair of OMP HTE-R winged bucket seats and Go-Gear harnesses have been fitted in preparation for road events, but the original Recaro race seat is included in the sale. The car will be accompanied by its Australian import approval documentation, CAMS (Australian FIA affiliate) logbook, a collection of receipts, an email from Porsche confirming its authenticity, the original Recaro race seat, and a further two sets of original 18-inch BBS centre-lock split rims, fitted with slicks. The seller understands that the car was involved in a racing incident in 2009, resulting in panel damage which was professionally repaired and subsequently inspected and signed off by CAMS (as per the accompanying logbook). Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: there are some stone chips on the front right-hand wing and front spoiler, and a small crack to the bottom-right corner of the windscreen. This 911 GT3 Supercup was serviced by the previous owner in 2020 at approximately 8,161 Km. A new fuel pump and battery were fitted this year. The car has remained unused since. The car was regularly maintained and serviced during its time in Australia and has been stored in a secure warehouse. This Porsche 911 is an original 996-generation GT3 Supercup car, finished in an eye-catching livery. One of just 81 1999 Supercup cars hand produced by Porsche, this low mileage, pleasingly original ‘numbers matching’ example represents an important part of motorsport and marque history, and will no doubt appeal to collectors, as well as making an enjoyable and competitive entrant into a number of historic race events and track days.
