Seller's Notes

Open the door and step back into 1999; this seventh-generation Celica can only be described as superb, having travelled a mere 11,287 km since it rolled off the production line 22 years ago. Powered by the same rev-happy 1.8-litre engine found in the Lotus Elise, the famed 2ZZ-GE power unit under the bonnet of this Celica was co-developed with Yamaha and uses variable valve lift to send an impressive 192bhp (143 KW) to the front wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. First registered on 31 July 2000 and driven very sparingly since, this time-warp Celica has been pampered by its current custodian for the past five years and is ready to be registered and enjoyed by its new owner, or preserved as an exemplar of the model. Introduced in 1999, the seventh generation was the last to wear the storied Celica nameplate that ran for 36 years, and which has arguably now become a modern classic. This particular example was delivered new to Australia wearing the attractive factory option 17-inch alloy wheels. Other features include air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, dual airbags, and a six-speaker stereo. As you would expect from a car with such low milage, this Celica presents in remarkably good condition inside, outside, and underneath. The gleaming red paintwork retains a deep shine on all panels with no stone chips or scratches evident. Inside can only be described as being in ‘time warp’ condition. Original and unmodified, the factory grey interior shows no significant wear or damage, with only slight signs of age. The factory 17-inch alloy wheels are all in excellent order, with no gutter rash. There is no history of any accident damage, all electrics work as they should, and the car is mechanically sound. With so few kilometres driven, this Celica’s service history is understandably brief, and it would benefit from a straightforward recommissioning service since being in storage. Swan Hill Toyota in Victoria took care of its last service on 26 October 2001 with the odometer reading just 9,527 km, where the engine oil and filter were changed. The car’s only other service was its first, performed at 1,000 km on 14 November 2000, and was provided free by the dealer who delivered the car new. As expected, the car comes with a full set of factory service books and the user manual. Looking almost as fresh as the day it left the factory in 1999, this seventh-generation Toyota Celica SX is a real time capsule and must surely be the lowest-mileage example in Australia. It is a great opportunity for an enthusiast or collector to secure an unmodified and completely original example of this smart modern classic.
