This E46-era BMW M3 is a solid example of the celebrated modern classic performance hero, finished in a handsome colour scheme, and equipped with the desirable manual gearbox. Under the bonnet is the naturally aspirated 3.2-litre ‘S54’ straight-six, which produces up to 338bhp and drives the rear wheels through an involving six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 188,893 km (117,373 miles) from new. This M3 has been with its current and third owner for two years. This M3 is finished in Topaz Blue over a black half leather-trimmed cabin, which is offset by the desirable ‘M-texture’ seat centres and door card inserts, and accented by aluminium-look trim inlays. This car rides on an aftermarket set of 19-inch MRR alloy wheels, shod in mixed tyres. Factory-fitted equipment includes the optional Harmon Kardon sound system, reversing sensors, automatic xenon headlights, headlamp wash system, electric memory front seats, a multi-function steering wheel, climate control, cruise control, and a central infotainment screen with satellite navigation, Bluetooth and a CD autochanger. This lightly modified example now features aftermarket Eibach springs, MRR alloy wheels, an aftermarket head unit featuring Bluetooth connectivity, CSL-style carbon splitters, moulded mud flaps, yellow brake callipers, black side vents and grilles, a non-standard BMW roundel on the bonnet, and a black M3 emblem at the rear. The steering wheel has also been retrimmed, and now features the M-division’s signature stripes at the 12 o’clock position. The car is accompanied by all of its original owner’s books, including the stamped service history in the original black leather folder, the first aid kit, and four key fobs. It also comes with all of the car’s original parts including the alloy wheels, springs, head unit, grilles, side vents, and spotlights. Please note: The cherished number plate ‘M3 1RL’ shown on the vehicle is not included in the sale. The seller notes that there are two small dents on the boot lid, which were caused by hail, and the front bumper is slightly misaligned by the nearside front wheel arch. The Topaz Blue paintwork is described by the seller as being in generally good condition, showing light stone chipping, two large areas of paint which have been touched in on the front bumper, and lacquer peel on the driver’s door mirror mounting. The seller also notes a touched-in area on the rear of the car. There are relatively minor kerb scuffs on the rim of the rear passenger-side alloy wheel, and larger scuffs and scrapes on both driver’s-side wheels. Inside, the cabin presents well, with some creasing and light wear on the black leather driver’s seat bolsters, with a little present on the central cloth section. There is also light wear on the passenger seat, but to a lesser extent, as well as bubbling and peeling paint on the lower section of the steering wheel. Elsewhere, there is a little scuffing below the hand brake grip, and some light scuffs on the lower door cards. The seller notes that the rear differential bushes are worn, and that the passenger-side indicator light on the dashboard is not functioning. This M3’s latest service was carried out at around 180,000 km by Jagga Automotive. The work comprised of a routine service with an engine oil and filter change. Prior to this, the car was serviced in November 2018 and May 2015 by Europlus service, which are both believed to have been general maintenance services. The seller notes that during their ownership the alternator has been refurbished, the centre differential bush has been replaced, and the rear subframe has been refurbished. The E46-generation M3 is a popular and entertaining driver’s car, and this lightly modified example is finished in an appealing colour combination. Presented in good overall condition and boasting an engaging six-speed manual transmission, it should make an exciting companion for weekend sprints, daily driving, and longer-distance touring alike.
