This Toyota Century is a rare and supremely luxurious hand-built modern classic Japanese limousine, offered in highly original condition. It is powered by the naturally aspirated 5.0-litre ‘1GZ-FE’ V12, producing around 308bhp, which is coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission as a 2005 update model. The car has been enjoyed as intended, but evidently very well maintained, and the odometer shows 97,091 Kms from new. The car was originally delivered to Japan, with one previous owner there (the CEO of a large shipbuilding company), and was imported into Australia in June 2021. It is now located in St Ives, New South Wales. This second-generation Century is finished in the refined hue of Kamui Eternal Black, over a grey jacquard wool-trimmed interior, punctuated with wood trim inlays from a single tree with matching grain. It rides on the correct 16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, with ‘Golden Phoenix’ emblem centre caps, and shod with Yokohama Blu-Earth tyres. The opulent factory specification includes air suspension, cruise control, soft-closing rear doors, a trip computer and digital speedometer, four-zone climate control, wind deflectors, a reversing camera, built-in cassette stereo and satellite navigation, a folding front passenger seat back to allow a rear passenger to extend their legs and fully recline, rear vanity mirrors, electrically adjustable heated and cooled seats, reclining rear seats, rear entertainment system with DVD player, switchable driving modes, hands-free phone calling, and electrically adjustable mirrors. It also features factory-fitted options of bronze glass, side curtains, floor shift, wing mirrors, and electric rear curtains. As a 2005 update model, this car features modern essentials such as the six-speed automatic gearbox, cooled and heated rear seats, a 12-speaker stereo, LED rear brake lights, and curtain airbags. The cherished and highly fitting number plate ‘12 VIP’ as shown in the photos is included in the sale. The car is accompanied by all of its owner’s manuals, the Japanese navigation system DVD, three keys, a service book with Japanese maintenance history, white lace seat covers, a Century-branded cassette player with headphones, a full toolkit, a jack, and a spare wheel. There is no known bodywork damage. The original seven-layer Kamui Eternal Black paintwork and associated brightwork has been painstakingly corrected and ceramic coated by a professional. Likewise, the interior is presented in superb order, with only slight signs of use, but no wear or discolouration. There are no known mechanical or electrical faults, and there are no warning lights showing on the dashboard. This Century’s most recent maintenance was carried out in November 2021 at 91,488 Kms by Lexus of Chatswood, which consisted of a scheduled service including new engine oil and filters, brake fluid, the chassis and body bolts tightened, new transmission fluid, new differential fluid and new cabin filters. The bonnet struts and rear subwoofer have also been replaced. The car has had a four-day paint restoration carried out followed by ceramic coating. The car now has the Australian Lexus navigation system installed. This Toyota Century is a rare and highly original example of the marque’s flagship luxury limousine, offered in superb condition. Benefitting from a significant paintwork restoration, and featuring a smooth V12 engine and a luxuriously equipped cabin, it would make a discerning addition to any marque enthusiast’s garage, and an opulent daily driver, long distance tourer, or a crowd-pleaser at any car show.
