There are more technologically advanced 911s. But few deliver a driving experience quite like the 997.1 GT3 RS. Widely regarded as one of the finest driver's cars Porsche has ever produced, the 997.1 RS represents a golden era of analogue performance. A naturally aspirated 3.6-litre Mezger flat-six, six-speed manual gearbox, hydraulic steering and motorsport-derived chassis combine to deliver something increasingly rare: an extraordinary connection between driver and machine. It's a car so rewarding that Richard Hammond has famously counted the 997 GT3 RS among his personal favourites, a testament to its appeal beyond outright performance figures. This Australian-delivered example is finished in the striking and less commonly seen Arctic Silver Metallic with Pure Orange accents. Having travelled just 30,488 kilometres, it presents beautifully, supported by a comprehensive independent pre-sale inspection and comprehensive maintenance history with Porsche specialists. There may be faster 911s. But this might just be the best kind of fast. ‍ VEHICLE HIGHLIGHTS Delivered new by Gulson Porsche Canberra on 30 March 2007, this Australian-delivered 997.1 GT3 RS has travelled just 30,267 km. Its specification is particularly distinctive. Arctic Silver Metallic is paired from factory with contrasting Pure Orange wheels, exterior mirrors, wing end plates and GT3 RS graphics. Porsche offered the 997.1 RS in only four principal colour combinations: Arctic Silver Metallic or Black with Orange contrast, and Pure Orange or Green with Black. Arctic Silver is widely regarded as one of the less commonly seen combinations. One specialist market source suggests approximately 10% of examples were specified in the colour, although Porsche has not published an official production split by paint. Inside, this car carries the standard RS lightweight carbon-fibre bucket seats derived from the Carrera GT, finished in flame-retardant fabric, together with a factory Black roll cage, option 595. At its centre is Porsche's naturally aspirated 3.6-litre dry-sump flat-six, producing 305 kW and 405 Nm and revving to 8,400 rpm. Power reaches the rear wheels through a close-ratio six-speed manual and RS-specific single-mass flywheel. The body is 44 mm wider across the rear axle than the GT3, with a correspondingly wider rear track. Weight-saving measures include the lightweight plastic rear window and adjustable carbon-fibre rear wing, while PASM and mechanically adjustable chassis geometry allow the car to be configured for more serious circuit use. Its mechanical history is comprehensive and openly documented. The car has a long relationship with PR Technology, with 11 stamps in the service book, and is fresh from major maintenance completed in September 2026. Following the service and prior to being brought to market, the 997 RS underwent a comprehensive pre-sale inspection covering compression, leak-down testing, over-rev data and paint-depth readings. The full report is available on request.
