This Subaru Impreza WRX STi Spec-C Type RA is a well-kept example of the rare rally-inspired performance hero, in highly original condition. It is powered by the turbocharged ‘EJ20’ 2.0-litre flat-four, delivering around 280bhp to all four wheels through a six-speed close-ratio manual gearbox. The odometer shows 104,263 kilometres (64,786 miles) from new. A Japanese-market example, this Impreza has recently been imported into Australia, but has not yet been registered. Based on a Spec C Competition STi, the RA or ‘Record Attempt’ edition features thinner glass, a lighter subframe, an aluminium boot lid and bonnet, a rally-style fresh air hatch in the roof, and an intercooler water spray kit. Performance upgrades include a twin-scroll IHI turbocharger and equal-length headers, and the ride height was lowered with firmer springs and dampers. The model was available in Red, Pure White, or WR Blue Mica, as seen on this example. Inside, the cabin is trimmed in black cloth and synthetic suede, punctuated by embroidered red ‘STI’ logos on the front seats, and red contrast stitching on the steering wheel. The car rides on set of 17-inch gold multi-spoke alloy wheels, framing gold brake callipers and shod in brand-new Falken ZIEX ZE914 tyres. Factory-fitted equipment includes climate control with air conditioning, electric windows, electrically folding door mirrors, centre differential controls, and an intercooler water spray button. Aftermarket additions include a set of ‘STI Genome’ auxiliary gauges on the dashboard with a boost gauge on the instrument cowl, an analogue clock on the steering column, a turbo timer, a non-original gear knob and ‘drift style’ handbrake button, a digital rear-view mirror with a rear camera, and a double-DIN Pioneer Carrozzeria infotainment system with satellite navigation. A non-standard exhaust has also been fitted. The car will be supplied with its Japanese service books and owner’s manuals. The WR Blue Mica paintwork is described by the seller as being in excellent condition, though there are some small scratches and marks around the car, as well as a crack in finish at the bottom of the front grille opening, and cracking of the trim strip around the roof vent. Inside, the cabin is also described as being in excellent condition. There is some light wear on the driver’s seat bolster, but the rest of the cabin presents very well indeed. The seller is not aware of any electrical or mechanical faults, and they state that there are no warning lights showing on the dashboard. This WRX STi’s latest service was carried out at around 104,000km. The work comprised of a major service with an engine oil and filter change, along with the replacement of the cam belt.
