Seller's Notes

This R56-generation Mini John Cooper Works is an exciting and sought-after modern hot hatch, offered with just two owners from new and relatively low mileage for its age. Under the bonnet sits a turbocharged 1.6-litre inline-four producing 155kW, which is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed Getrag manual transmission. This fine example has covered 87,100 kilometres from new. The John Cooper Works variant of the R56-generation Mini hatch features a more powerful engine, an uprated exhaust system, stiffer sport suspension, 17-inch light alloy wheels, Brembo brakes, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), and a Dynamic Traction control system (DTC) with Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC) as standard. JCW variants also feature the desirable Getrag six-speed manual transmission, and distinctive ‘John Cooper Works’ badging in place of the normal ‘Cooper S’ badges. This example is finished in Dark Silver, over a black perforated leather-trimmed interior. It rides on a set of 17-inch multi-spoke alloys, shod in Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres on the rear axle and a set of Winrun R330 tyres on the front axle. Features include front fog lights, a twin glass sunroof, cruise control, a multi-function steering wheel, a built-in Mini audio CD player radio system, switchable sport mode, voice control, air conditioning, electric windows, push-button start, and electric door mirrors. The car will be supplied with its original owner’s books and service booklet. The seller notes that there is a small dent on the bonnet. The Dark Silver paintwork is described by the seller as being in excellent condition. It shows the odd front-end stone chip and some other light marks, which can be seen in the extensive image gallery, but overall features an attractive lustre on each body panel. Inside, the cabin presents well, with some creasing and light wear on the black leather-trimmed driver’s seat, and some distinct scuffing on the plastic driver’s side sill. There is also light creasing on the passenger seat, as well as light wear on the gear selector leather and some hazing on the gloss black trim inlays. The seller notes that the centre console hatch trim is loose, and that the sun visor vanity mirror covers are missing. The seller is not aware of any electrical or mechanical faults, and they state that there are no warning lights showing on the dashboard. The water pump and oil cooler gasket have recently been replaced. This Mini’s latest service was carried out in 2022. The work comprised of an engine oil and filter change, along with the replacement of the spark plugs, filters, brake discs and pads, and battery. Prior to this, the car was serviced in November 2017 at 68,304 km by Meridian Garage. This consisted of an engine oil, oil filter, air filter, micro filter and spark plug change, as well as a general inspection. This R56-generation Mini John Cooper Works is a fine example of the marque’s engaging and focussed modern hot hatch, offered with two owners from new and low mileage for its age. Presented in a subtle factory colour scheme, with a generous factory specification, and a characterful turbocharged inline-four mated to a playful and agile chassis, it would make a fun addition to a collection, and an ideal way to attack any challenging road. The description of this auction lot is, to the best of the seller's knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Collecting Cars requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller, and performs a level of due diligence.
