Seller's Notes

This Holden HSV GTSR W1 is one of four ‘Pilot’ production vehicles which were used to finalise the specifications of the main production run and promote the hotly anticipated muscular race-inspired performance saloon car which would become the most powerful production car ever produced in Australia. It is powered by a supercharged 6.2-litre LS9 V8, developing 474kW and 815Nm of torque and sending it to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. An accompanying HSV Certificate of Authenticity identifies this example as Pilot build number E002. The eye-catching hue of Jungle Fever is a one-off factory shade that wasn’t offered for the main production run and ‘E002’ is said to have had the easiest life of the four Pilot cars, being used for cooling trials in Darwin and media drives at Philip Island Circuit, and covering just 9,000 Km on its duties. An important part of the Holden HSV GTSR W1 launch and marque history, ‘E002’ featured in reviews and online content for Which, Drive, and Autocar and appeared in the Motor magazine special that celebrated 30 years of Holden muscle cars, a copy of which accompanies the sale. It has been in the custodianship of the technician seller since January 2018, when HSV retired it from its fleet, and is now offered for sale in Victoria. Ready to enjoy, the most recent specialist stamp was added to the accompanying service book in July 2024 at 18,594 Km. The odometer shows 18,620 Km. The GTSR W1 features carbon-fibre front wing vents, a carbon-fibre airbox, an Aeroflow Performance rear spoiler, custom-tuned suspension, distinctive W1 badges, a hand-built 6.2-litre supercharged dry-sumped V8 with forged titanium con-rods, forged alloy pistons, and titanium inlet vales, a close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox specifically designed to optimise track performance and driveability, and a set of 20-inch forged alloy wheels finished in matte black. This example is finished in the one-off factory hue of Jungle Fever, over a black cabin trimmed in leather and charcoal diamond-quilted Alcantara with grey and red contrast stitching, embroidered ‘W1’ headrest script, and carbon-fibre trim inlays. Its 20-inch wheels house red HSV-branded AP Racing six-piston callipers, and wear Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres. Equipment includes front and rear parking assistance, an Alcantara-trimmed multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, lane-departure warning, forward collision alert, dual-zone climate control, a Bose sound system, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, an infotainment system with satellite navigation, and Enhanced Driver Interface. The engine cover was signed in 2018 by Jamie Whincup, Shane van Gisbergen, and Craig Lowndes, following their 1,2,3 finish at the Sandown 500. The Holden is accompanied by its HSV Certificate of Authenticity, owner’s pack, stamped service book, two keys, an HSV disc for MoTeC data analysis, and a copy of the Motor magazine special in which it features. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: there are a few small stone chips to the paintwork and a faint line from wearing the previously fitted camouflage wrap in the execution of its Pilot duties. Specialist APS Service Centre conducted a service in July 2024 at 18,594 Km. This included a thorough inspection and an engine oil and oil filter change. It was serviced by APS Service Centre in October 2022 at 17,894 Km. This included an engine oil and oil filter change, a cooling system flush and refill with OEM specification coolant, and a brake system flush and refill. In addition to the stamped services in the service book, the technician owner has conducted engine oil and oil filter changes and thorough inspections at the following intervals using the correct AC Delco UPF48R oil filters and Penrite GF-5 5W/30 fully synthetic oil: July 2021 at 16,950 Km, June 2020 at 16,660 Km, and May 2019 at 15,800 Km.
