C5 (2002 to 2004)

The Audi RS6 C5 was produced from 2002 to 2004 and marked the debut of the RS6 nameplate, establishing Audi’s formula of combining executive-car practicality with serious performance. Powered by a 4.2-litre twin-turbocharged V8 producing 331kW (450 hp) and 560Nm of torque, the C5 RS6 sent power to all four wheels via Audi’s quattro system and a five-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. Available as both a sedan and Avant, it could sprint from 0–100 km/h in around 4.7 seconds, placing it firmly in super-sedan territory at the time. A limited-production, track-focused RS6 Plus variant followed in Europe with increased power output. In the Australian market, the RS6 C5 is appreciated as the original RS6 and a future modern classic, valued for its understated styling, twin-turbo V8 character, and relative rarity compared to later generations.
