MARKET ANALYSIS
6th Gen (2016 to 2024)

Unveiled for the 2016 model year, the sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro represented a significant step forward in performance and refinement, moving to GM’s lighter Alpha platform and delivering sharper handling than any Camaro before it. Offered in coupe and convertible body styles, the range spanned trims such as LS, LT, SS, and the flagship ZL1, with engine options ranging from a turbocharged inline-four, a 3.6-litre V6, a naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8, and a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 in the ZL1. A controversial styling facelift arrived in 2019, revising the front and rear design, while performance-focused derivatives and tuner-built cars from names like Hennessey and Callaway further expanded the model’s appeal. Total sixth-generation production is estimated at approximately 600,000 units worldwide before the Camaro nameplate was paused after 2023. In the Australian market, sixth-gen Camaros were never officially sold by Chevrolet and exist entirely as imports or factory-backed conversions, with demand strongest for SS and ZL1 variants, manual transmissions, and pre-facelift cars, as buyers increasingly view the sixth generation as the final chapter of a modern muscle car icon.
