About the Chrysler Valiant Charger

The Chrysler Charger, produced in Australia from 1971 to 1978, is a short-wheelbase, fastback coupe that stands as one of the most aggressive and successful designs in the nation's automotive history. In the current 2026 collector market, the market value for a Charger is heavily dictated by its "Six-Pack" or V8 pedigree; a base-model XL might sit around $45,000, while the legendary E49 R/T—famed for its triple-Weber carburetted Hemi six—regularly commands between $250,000 and $400,000. Its desirability remains at a fever pitch due to its "Hey Charger!" cultural legacy and its unique status as a muscle car that famously used a high-performance straight-six to outrun contemporary V8 rivals on the track. The buyer pool is a competitive mix of blue-chip Australian investors, Mopar purists who appreciate its American A-body DNA, and international collectors who view it as a rare, right-hand-drive alternative to the more common US Dodge Charger, ensuring its position as a top-tier asset in the global vintage market.
