XC (1976 to 1979)

Produced from 1976 to 1979, the Ford Falcon XC was the final iteration of the XB/XC coupe era and marked the end of factory Falcon coupes in Australia. Available in sedan, wagon, ute, panel van, and the iconic hardtop coupe, the XC range offered inline-six and V8 power, with the coupe becoming the most celebrated body style today. The XC also formed the basis for one of Australia’s most recognisable special editions: the XC Cobra, created in 1978 to clear unsold hardtop shells and celebrate Ford’s Bathurst success. The XC Cobra was offered in Cobra White with blue stripes, with two variants—302 cu.in. V8 and the rarer 351 cu.in. V8—and featured distinctive wheels, spoilers, and interior trim. Only 4,002 XC Cobras were built (roughly 4,000 with the 302 and around 400 with the 351), making it one of the most collectible Australian muscle cars ever produced. In the Australian market, standard XC Falcons are valued for body style and originality, while genuine XC Cobras sit firmly in blue-chip territory, with values driven by engine specification, matching numbers, documentation, and condition, especially as they represent the final chapter of the classic Falcon coupe era.
